Stand With Crypto Removes Soulja Boy From NJ Governor Rally After Discovering Sexual Assault Fine
Rapper Soulja Boy will no longer perform at Stand With Crypto's "get out the vote" event in Jersey City next week due to a court finding him liable for sexual battery and assault, a spokesperson told CoinDesk on Thursday. Soulja Boy, otherwise known as DeAndre Cortez Way, and 070 Shake, otherwise known as Danielle Balbuena, were slated to headline the event on June 5, which was intended to bring out crypto fans a few weeks before New Jersey residents go to the polls to choose their nominees for the Garden State's governor race, Stand With Crypto announced on Wednesday. Stand With Crypto New Jersey chapter president Carlos Merino said in a statement that "This GOTV rally is one more example of Stand With Crypto's commitment to mobilizing the crypto community ahead of New Jersey's critical gubernatorial primary election." However, Way will no longer perform after Politico reported Thursday morning that he was recently ordered to pay a former assistant $4 million after being found liable for sexual battery and assault. An external spokesperson for Stand With Crypto said in a statement that the organization was "not aware of the recent legal developments involving Soulja Boy." "Given this information, we have removed him from our event lineup. 070 Shake will still perform at our June 5th rally and we look forward to bringing together New Jersey's crypto community to demonstrate the political power of crypto voters ahead of the gubernatorial primary," according to the statement. "Our focus remains on mobilizing crypto supporters and ensuring candidates understand that clear, sensible crypto policy is a priority for New Jersey voters." The lawsuit against Way dates back to 2021, though the jury ruling only came last month. Way said he would appeal the ruling, according to Courthouse News Service. Way also performed at the "Crypto Ball," an inauguration event sponsored by MAGA Inc. and Bitcoin Inc., as well as Exodus, Anchorage Digital and Kraken back in January.

Vote dispute: Akmal to file protest over Johor Baru PKR upset
JOHOR BARU: Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir will lodge an official protest with the PKR election committee following his unexpected defeat in the race for the Johor Baru PKR division chief post on Sunday. Akmal, who is also Johor Baru member of parliament, is challenging the official vote count, which recorded him receiving only 587 votes, compared to the 709 garnered by Johor Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Youth chief Mohamad Taufiq Ismail — who won with a majority of 122 votes. In a statement posted on Facebook today, Akmal asserted that he had in fact secured at least 949 votes and revealed that his team had submitted a statutory declaration to support the claim. "These numbers are not mere GOTV (Get Out The Vote) projections but are backed by Form 14s verified by polling station chiefs, signed voter rolls, and photographic evidence," he said. He urged all parties to remain calm as he prepares to submit a formal protest through the proper channels, stressing the importance of preserving party integrity. The defeat came as a surprise to many of Akmal's supporters, especially after he had hinted at victory in an earlier Facebook post, which featured an infographic purporting to show unofficial results indicating a simple majority in his favour. Akmal also criticised the final outcome, likening it to a "headless body" scenario, pointing out that 10 members elected to the division committee were from his team. He appeared to suggest that internal sabotage or manipulation might have influenced the election results. "A strange phenomenon occurred in the AMK (Youth Wing), where only the 'head' — the AMK chief — was 'cut off', while the deputy and the rest of the committee were elected. "A similar situation unfolded in the women's wing, where only the top two positions were disrupted," he added. Akmal previously held the Johor Baru division chief post and was widely viewed as the frontrunner in the contest.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 — PKR strategy director Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir will lodge a formal protest with the party's Election Committee (JPP) over the Johor Baru division poll results, which saw him lose his seat as division chief. Akmal, who is also deputy minister of energy transition and water transformation, was defeated by Johor Youth Chief Mohamad Taufiq Ismail, in what many saw as a surprise upset. Official figures show Akmal garnered 587 votes to Taufiq's 709. He said the move to contest the result came after Get Out The Voters (GOTV) operations lead Stanley Tan Boon Heng — who oversaw voting on the day — filed a statutory declaration confirming that at least 949 votes had gone to Akmal. 'These figures aren't just GOTV tallies — they're backed by documented proof of support,' he wrote on Facebook. 'The numbers are supported by certified Form 14s from polling station heads, voter lists with signed acknowledgements, and photographic evidence.' He added: 'I'll be submitting an official protest to JPP. Until then, I urge everyone to remain calm as we follow the proper process.' Akmal also questioned the credibility of the outcome, calling the Johor Baru results an example of a 'headless body' scenario. 'Ten of the elected division committee members are from my team,' he said. 'An unusual outcome also occurred in the youth wing, where only the chief was defeated while the deputy and all other committee members were elected. 'In the Women's wing, the chief and deputy lost while my team's candidates for vice-chief and committee roles won.' Akmal joins several other PKR figures planning to contest the results, including communications director Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya), deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat (Selayang), and Sungai Siput MP Kesavan Subramaniam, who lost narrowly in his division. Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who lost by 68 votes to actor-director Datuk Afdlin Shauki as the Setiawangsa division chief, also hinted at taking the formal route to raise concerns.
