Watch: Shubman Gill's Intriguing Act During Handshake With Rishabh Pant Has Fans Talking
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant finally had the taste of victory as his franchise thumped high-flying Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Thursday. The defeat hurt the Titans' hopes of securing a top-two spot, which would've given the franchise two chances of making it to the final. While it's not all but over for GT as far as a spot in Qualifier 1 is concerned, not everything is in the hands of the Shubman Gill -led side. Understandably frustrated with his team's defeat against Lucknow, a team that isn't even in the playoffs, Gill seemingly ignored what his counterpart Pant had to say during the customary handshake between the two teams. Here's the video: Dominant with the bat Clinical with the ball @LucknowIPL prevail in a run-fest and complete their double against table-toppers #GT Scorecard #TATAIPL | #GTvLSG — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) May 22, 2025 Both Gill and Pant are mainstays in the Indian national team. In fact, the two are touted to become the next captain and vice-captain for India in the Test format, after Rohit Sharma 's retirement from red-ball cricket. But, the post-match video had fans talking. No way my DAWG just Get ignore by Gill. — PBKS Warriors (@paracetaaamol) May 22, 2025 Shubman Gill Ignore Rishabh Pant's Words at the 0:48 Mark in This Video. - Selfish Shubman Gill? — Gaurav Cricket 𝕏 (@GauravCrickets) May 23, 2025 After the match against LSG, GT skipper Gill said that his team ended up giving 20-30 runs extra, which is what cost them the match. "We gave 15-20 runs extra. Wanted to stop them around 210. Huge difference between 210 and 230. We bowled well in the powerplay, didn't get any wickets but after the powerplay in the 14 overs they scored around 180 runs which was a lot. (On the positives) We were right in the game till the 17th over, it was never easy chasing 240. Lots of positives for us - Rutherford and Shahrukh's batting was a big plus. (Looking forward) Getting back some momentum would be key, would want to get back to winning ways heading into the playoffs," Gill said after the match. Pant, on the other hand, was extremely happy to finally see his team put in an all-round performance they can be proud of. "Definitely happy. We have shown as a team that we can play good cricket. There was a time in the tournament we had the chances to qualify. But that's part and parcel of the game. We need to learn and get batter. Always a question of getting the top three but the way Shahrukh batted it definitely gives hope down the order as well. There was injury concerns coming into the tournament. The way Mitch, Markram, Pooran batted and the whole batting unit in fact. Fielding we made lapses. Learn from it and move forward," he said after the game.

Rishabh Pant played a solid cameo as Lucknow Super Giants notched 235/2 against Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2025 match on Thursday. Under fire for a poor run of form, Pant came in to bat 19th over. Even then, he made an impact. On the first ball of the 20th over, he hit Kagiso Rabada for a six. Then on the fifth ball of the last over, he hit a no-look six. The video of the shot has gone viral. Don't away as it's a no shot Trademark Rishabh Pant on display Updates #TATAIPL | #GTvLSG — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) May 22, 2025 A maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century from Mitchell Marsh and a quick-fire fifty by Nicholas Pooran powered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a mammoth total of 235/2 in their 20 overs against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday in the 18th season of the IPL. GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings for LSG, providing a solid start. The duo added a 50-run stand within the powerplay as LSG reached 53 for no loss, with Markram being the aggressor. Just after the powerplay, Marsh went after Purple Cap holder Prasidh Krishna, hitting him for a six and a four. His knock included three fours and two sixes. Nicholas Pooran joined Marsh at the crease and announced his arrival by hitting Kishore for a six off his very first ball. At the halfway mark, LSG were 97/1. Marsh then took on veteran spinner Rashid Khan, plundering 25 runs in an over, including two sixes and three fours. LSG crossed the 150-run mark in the 15th over, scoring 13 runs off Kishore. At the end of the 15th, they were 160/1. The Marsh-Pooran duo continued their aggressive onslaught, smashing 20 runs off Mohammed Siraj 's final over. Marsh brought up his maiden IPL century in just 56 balls in the 17th over. The pair added 100 runs for the second wicket in just 42 balls. Pooran kept up his form in IPL 2025, reaching his fifth fifty of the season in just 23 balls. Arshad Khan finally ended the massive partnership by removing Marsh for 117 off 64 balls -- a brilliant innings laced with ten fours and eight sixes. LSG captain Rishabh Pant came in for the final two overs and made an impact, smashing Rabada for two sixes as LSG posted a daunting total of 235/2 in their 20 overs. In the bowling department, Sai Kishore (1/34) was the most effective for Gujarat. Arshad Khan also claimed a wicket, while the rest of the GT bowlers went wicketless. Watch: GT Pacer Mohammed Siraj Sledges Nicholas Pooran, LSG Star's Reaction Leaves Crowd Buzzing
It was a terrific batting display from Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday. The team posted 235 for 2 in the stipulated 20 overs after getting an invitation to bat first. Mitchell Marsh was the wrecker-in-chief with a sensational century while Nicholas Pooran too played a fiery knock to help LSG post a massive total against GT. An interesting battle took place in the 16th over of the LSG innings that hogged limelight. GT pacer Mohammed Siraj was smashed for a four each by Marsh and then Pooran before he tried to sledge the southpaw. Siraj bowled two bouncers to Pooran. The first one was called a wide by the umpire while the second one was a dot ball. Siraj tried to poke Pooran through his words but the LSG southpaw didn't react to it and rather made his bat to the talk. As Siraj went up to Pooran and tried to sledge him, the batter just focussed on chewing his gum and walked towards the non-striker's end to have a chat with Marsh. Pooran then slammed Siraj for a stuning six over the cow corner and then smashed a four down the ground. After completing the shot for the last boundary, Pooran gave a flying kiss with his bat in the direction of Siraj.
