Westerville North's Gabe Wise is Dispatch regular-season boys track athlete of the year

Several central Ohio boys track and field athletes have turned in standout performances this season. Twenty-one area athletes were featured in a poll to determine the central Ohio high school boys track and field regular-season athlete of the year. The senior helped propel North to the OCC-Capital title, winning the 800 meters (1 minute, 56.61 seconds) and running on the first-place 3,200 relay (7:50.9). Wise also was part of the second-place 1,600 relay (3:28.77). The Warriors edged runner-up Big Walnut 124.5-124. Westerville North's Gabe Wise was voted Dispatch regular-season boys track and field athlete of the year. 'Gabe has been our most consistent runner,' coach Johnny Jackson said. 'His effort in practice and meets show his commitment and dedication to the team. He is the anchor literally and figuratively for both of our top relays (the 3,200 and 1,600).'
