More sunshine expected Sunday
More sunshine Sunday Dry start of the week Warming up by Wednesday We've held on to mostly clear skies overnight leaving temperatures in the lower 60s and even upper 50s to start out this morning. Winds are light out of the north at 5 mph. Breezes are expected to pick up through the afternoon. Highs will top out in the lower 80s to wrap up the weekend with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. By late afternoon, a line of thunderstorms is expected to develop over Topeka as a cold front moves through. A few of these storms could become strong to severe, with the greatest risk located southeast of Topeka. Most areas will stay dry Sunday with just a few passing clouds possible. We stay consistent with temperatures into the upcoming work week with the low 80s sticking around through Monday. This puts us closer to average for early June. More 'summer-like' temperatures return midweek with upper 80s likely Tuesday and could be pushing near 90° Wednesday. Dry conditions persist through midweek with plenty of sunshine in store. Rain chances look to return by Thursday as temperatures drop back into some middle 80s. KSNT Storm Track Meteorologist Gabriella Gomez Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Rain, rain, go away – more storms expected for Sunday
hat We're Tracking Storm chances continue Sunday Cooler into Monday Drying out Tuesday Showers and thunderstorms are moving into the viewing area this morning with mild temperatures in the lower 60s. Winds are from the east at around 10 mph. Breezes will pick up through the afternoon at 15-20 mph. Widespread rain is likely for the first part of our Sunday before gradually tapering off into the afternoon and evening. Still, nothing severe is expected but it is possible to hear rumbles of thunder and see some lightning as this wave of storms moves through. Additional rounds of rain and storms are expected heading into Memorial Day itself. Again, rumbles of thunder and lightning are possible as severe weather chances are still not likely. Widespread showers and storms will linger through the daytime Monday before exiting our area into the early evening. Temperatures for tomorrow will be the coolest we've seen as we struggle back into the lower 60s. With several rounds of rain in the forecast, the risk for flooding increases over the holiday weekend. The heaviest rainfall is expected to remain south of I-70, where some areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain. Not the best start for the 'unofficial start to summer' and it's possible many pools don't open quite yet this weekend due to the cooler temperatures. We start to see a warming trend throughout the rest of the upcoming week. By Wednesday we should start to see 70s return. The only downside is we may also see rain chances increase yet again by Thursday night. KSNT Storm Track Meteorologist Gabriella Gomez Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This trend continues on again Saturday night into Sunday morning. While a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning are possible, storms are not expected to be severe. Scattered showers may linger into Memorial Day itself, before drier conditions return by Tuesday. Temperatures throughout the holiday weekend will stay on the cooler side. Highs will top out in the lower 70s on Friday and Saturday, then fall into the upper 60s for Sunday and Monday.
