Do not sabotage each other, Hajiji tells Gagasan Rakyat leaders
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah leaders and members have been told not sabotage each other and to support them instead – even if they are not selected as candidates in the coming state election. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said it was vital that every party member and leader work hard to strengthen their parties and help candidates win. "I want to see that regardless of who the candidates are – we fully give our support. Let there be no elements of sabotage," said the party president on Saturday (April 26). Hajiji said he wanted Gagasan Rakyat members to work hard to fight against slander, master social media and the Internet, as well as continue to garner support for Gagasan Rakyat as well as the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition. "In our mission to fight against opposition slander, it is important to have a strong team to tackle issues and respond to accusations while providing proof of all the government programs and assistance available, provided for by the GRS-Pakatan Harapan state government," said Hajiji. He said there were many initiatives for education and people's well-being in place, as well as those for economic investments.

Gagasan Rakyat to decide its political partners for state election, says Hajiji
Hajiji poses with leaders and members of Gagasan Rakyat during the launch of the party's Information Machinery 'Gasak 17' and Workshop at the Bajausama Ethnic Association Cultural Centre on Saturday. TUARAN (April 26): Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) will take the lead in deciding its political partners for the upcoming state election, said its President, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor. Speaking to reporters after launching the party's Information Machinery 'Gasak 17' and Workshop at the Bajausama Ethnic Association Cultural Centre on Saturday, Hajiji emphasized that collaboration talks would only proceed after internal consensus is achieved. 'We are the state government today. So, we will be the ones to decide who our partners will be in the coming election,' he said. Hajiji revealed that several parties have expressed interest in working with Gagasan Rakyat, with some even proposing seat allocations. However, he stressed that such proposals would be carefully reviewed through discussions with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Pakatan Harapan (PH), and other interested groups. 'There are many parties lobbying for cooperation, some even mentioning large numbers of seats. We will refine these matters in future meetings,' he added. Despite the ongoing negotiations, Hajiji called on party members to remain focused on election preparations and to rally behind the candidates once final decisions are made. 'I urge all members to put aside personal interests and work hard to ensure our candidates win,' he said. He also underscored the critical role of the party's information machinery in countering misinformation from the opposition and effectively communicating the state government's achievements to the public. 'If these efforts are not explained clearly, the public may fall for slander from certain quarters. That is the key responsibility of our information machinery,' Hajiji said. According to Hajiji, election machinery at every State Assembly constituency has already been activated and is ready for the coming polls.

Azizah praises Norazlinah for standing up for women's rights
Published on: Tuesday, April 22, 2025 Published on: Tue, Apr 22, 2025 By: Noor Zafira Zayn Text Size: Azizah and Norazlinah Kota Kinabalu: Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun said every leader must champion the rights of the people, especially in defending women's dignity and interests. 'I commend Kunak Assemblywoman Datuk Norazlinah Arif for speaking up on women's rights, particularly on issues affecting their dignity. If women remain silent and fail to stand up for their honour, especially when it involves sensitivity and morality, who else will? 'Her actions should inspire other leaders, and all women, to boldly uphold our rights. People cannot just make inappropriate jokes without boundaries,' she told reporters during her Aidilfitri open house at her house, here, Saturday. She said this in reaction to a widely circulated social media clip of a State Legislative Assembly session, where Norazlinah expressed disappointment over being playfully punched by Merotai Assemblyman Sarifuddin Hata during a previous sitting. In the video, Norazlinah argued that such actions, even if meant as a joke, were unacceptable. The exchange also involved Lamag Assemblyman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin and Sarifuddin. Azizah said that women's participation in Sabah's governance under GRS proves the State Government takes their role seriously. 'We have achieved 30 per cent women's involvement across key positions, including Government Link Companies chairpersons and board directors. This is not about monopolising power but working alongside men (who hold 70 per cent) to develop and progress our beloved Sabah,' she added. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
