Caitlin Clark Held Back After Aliyah Boston Mistake
Caitlin Clark Held Back After Aliyah Boston Mistake originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After Caitlin Clark was ruled out for at least two weeks with a quad strain, the Indiana Fever have now lost three straight games. Advertisement On Friday, the Fever fell to the Connecticut Sun, the only winless team remaining in the WNBA, by a final score of 85-83 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Aliyah Boston helped keep Indiana afloat despite trailing by double digits, tallying 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting, five rebounds and eight assists. However, Boston came just one challenge away from fouling out. With 9:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, the officials called a questionable foul on Boston, which would have marked her fifth of the game. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and forward Aliyah BostonEmily Faith Morgan-Imagn Images The Fever were forced to use their first challenge of the day, hoping to keep Boston out of foul trouble. The challenge was successful, and Indiana retained their timeout, dropping Boston's foul count back down to four. She picked up her fifth later in the fourth. Advertisement During the review of the play, Clark decided to get involved with the officials. According to the Indy Star's Chloe Peterson, Fever assistant coach Karima Christmas-Kelly held her back after she argued the eventual overturned call. "AB is called for her fifth foul, and the Fever immediately contest," Peterson wrote on X. "Karima Christmas-Kelly needed to hold CC back from talking too much to the officials. Fever are challenging the call." Although the Fever lost their second-straight without Clark, they may have some other issues on the horizon. Both point guard Sydney Colson (left leg), Clark's replacement, and Sophie Cunningham (right ankle) suffered game-ending injuries. Advertisement The Fever will have a much-needed weekend off before their next game, facing Brittney Sykes and the Washington Mystics for the second time this year on Tuesday. Caitlin Clark Shows Clear Frustration During Fever-Sun Game
Caitlin Clark Shows Clear Frustration During Fever-Sun Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Friday night's contest between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was a tightly contested, high-energy affair that ultimately saw the Sun emerge with an 85-83 victory over the Fever. Advertisement Connecticut jumped out to a strong start, holding Indiana to just 16 points in the second quarter, but the momentum swung back and forth throughout the night. By halftime, the Sun led 43-39, thanks in large part to Marina Mabrey, who finished the game leading all scorers with 26 points, five rebounds and five assists. However, midway through the third quarter, a pivotal moment unfolded when Mabrey was whistled for a blocking foul. While the official call stood, Fever star Caitlin Clark, who is sidelined with a left quadriceps strain, believed it should have been ruled a take foul. A video soon circulated across social media that captured Clark visibly frustrated as she strode onto the court to voice her disagreement to the referee. Drafted first overall in 2024, Clark quickly reshaped the Fever's trajectory in her rookie season, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game and leading the league in assists, making her the first true rookie to do so in WNBA history. Advertisement Collegiately, she left Iowa as the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer, secured back-to-back National Player of the Year honors (AP: 2023, 2024) and earned three unanimous first-team All-American selections (2022-2024). Wooden Awards. The Fever have now dropped three straight, including the past two with Clark out of the lineup. Ben Stiller was taken aback by Pat McAfee's brutal Knicks trolling: ‘Seems a little cartoonish'
Actor and Knicks superfan Ben Stiller said he didn't know much about Pat McAfee before Game 4 on Tuesday night. He's since become a bit more acquainted with what he's all about after the ESPN personality dropped a WWE-style promo on Stiller, Timothée Chalamet and Spike Lee late in the Pacers' win over the Knicks from inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Advertisement In the viral moment, McAfee called the trio 'bigwigs from the big city' before naming each one of them to elicit boos. He then told the Pacers fans to 'send these sons of bitches back to New York with their ears ringing.' Stiller, who has starred in hit movies like 'Meet the Parents' and 'Dodgeball' and served as the executive producer of 'Severance,' discussed the whole thing during an appearance on SNY's 'The Putback with Ian Begley' on Wednesday morning. The actor admitted to being 'not familiar with his game' before asking if he had been a field goal kicker or a place kicker. Begley informed Stiller that McAfee was a punter with the Colts and later added that he is also a color commentator for WWE's 'Monday Night Raw' in addition to hosting his popular sports talk show on the Worldwide Leader. Pat McAfee speaking to the fans during a timeout during Game 4 on May 27, 2025. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post 'I wasn't aware of that,' Stiller said. 'I did know that Timothée had been on his show. And I was like, 'Oh, that's your boy. That's your guy.' So when that happened, I was a little bit like, 'Whoa.' But the WWE aspect of it, I get it. It's just not the way it happens in New York. He should come to the Garden for Game 5.' Advertisement The celeb then suggested that McAfee wouldn't be booed if he had shown up in New York and would receive a cheer from the Madison Square Garden crowd. Ben Stiller is seen during the first quarter of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. Getty Images Though it does seem unlikely after McAfee's Game 4 attempt to hype up the crowd. 'They'll put him up on the screen and they'll show him punting the ball and everybody will give him a nice cheer,' Stiller said. 'That's how we do it in New York. But I get it, it was fun. He was just trying to get the crowd riled up. It was a little bit out of the blue. It's also like, are we really doing the narrative of 'Hicks versus Knicks'? Like the bigwigs from New York? It just seems a little cartoonish. But then again, it goes with the WWE.' Advertisement The 'Hicks versus Knicks' narrative that Stiller was referring to was popularized during the battles between the Knicks and Pacers in the 1990s. Pat McAfee after speaking to the crowd in the fourth quarter. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post While the renewed rivalry between the Pacers has been plenty of fun on the court and inside the building, it has led to some darker moments outside the arenas. Knicks fans were seen throwing trash at a Pacers fan following the Game 6 win in the second round over the Celtics, and a different Pacers supporter was charged with stabbing two Knicks fans at a brewery in Indiana during Game 2.
