Riley Gaines silences critics after completing daring 1.25-mile Alcatraz swim while pregnant

Riley Gaines swam from the infamous Alcatraz prison to shore just as she did last year, but this time, she did so 31 weeks pregnant. That detail led many to bash Gaines on social media, but she had time on OutKick's "Gaines for Girls" podcast to fire right back. Gaines did the roughly 1.25-mile swim alongside U.S. Navy SEALs and combat veterans, as well as her husband, after getting clearance from her OBGYN. She posted to social media a picture of herself after the swim, and quickly received vitriol. She said the act "broke the minds of liberals." Then, Gaines read aloud a few comments and gave her take on each. "'I guess putting your baby at a risk for click was a decision,'" Gaines read aloud. "I wonder where he got his doctorate. I didn't know Twitter had so many OBGYNs or doctors who suddenly know more about pregnancy and exercising while pregnant than my OB did, who cleared me to do this." Another X user wrote: "Maybe not the best time to swim in the ocean then lol but what do I know." "Nothing," Gaines retorted. "You know nothing, at least about pregnancy and exercising while pregnant." Gaines read another comment, which asked why she would think about doing this while pregnant. "I think I feel so great, and I have the entire time, because I have done things like this regularly, whether being pregnant or not being pregnant," Gaines said. Finally, Gaines read her favorite reply. "I love this one. This guy says – this is pretty amazing. He says, 'Imagine the torturous, horrific conditions for the fetus. Breathing, muscles squeezing, adrenaline overdosing, massive pressure on the cervix, womb, sack, and fetus. Then, the sloshing and incredibly loud noises. Quite the sadistic torture. Hope the fetus survives the mother's idiocy to be born, healthy. Poor baby…' "First of all, my developing child in the womb is not a fetus, at this point. If she were to be born, obviously not ideal to be born nine weeks early and no one is to say for certain what will happen. But viability is 24-ish weeks." Alcatraz was opened in 1934, but it didn't even last three decades before closing. Located on an island off the shore in the San Francisco Bay, it was categorized as practically escape-proof, though 14 documented attempts were made. Among them were the Anglin brothers, John and Clarence, as well as Frank Morris, who tried to escape on June 11, 1962. It was later turned into a movie, "Escape from Alcatraz," as it remains a mystery to this day whether they reached shore and survived, or drowned, as the FBI concluded due to harsh conditions. Gaines hosts the "Gaines for Girls" podcast on OutKick, where she discusses what has occurred with transgender individuals participating in girls' and women's sports.

2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: OL Jon Gaines II

We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about OL Jon Gaines II. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. Next up is offensive lineman Jon Gaines. Jon Gaines background, 2024 season Gaines enters his third NFL season. He was drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round in 2023 out of UCLA. He lost his rookie season, suffering a knee injury in the preseason finale, landing in on injured reserve for the entire season. In 2024, he began the season as the team's third-string center. He was inactive as a healthy scratch for the first four weeks of the season. After starting right guard Will Hernandez tore his ACL and Trystan Colon moved into the starting lineup, Gaines became the backup center. He was active for and appeared in every game the rest of the season, logging 22 offensive snaps and 58 on special teams. Jon Gaines 2025 contract details, cap hit Gaines enters Year 3 of his four-year rookie contract. He will make $1.03 million in salary and count a little more than $1.2 million against the salary cap. Questions he faces, roster outlook Gaines has not yet been able to crack the starting lineup and doesn't appear to be in line to do so again. However, his position versatility, able to play all three interior line positions, makes him a valuable depth player. However, he is on the roster bubble with the competition there will be for the reserve spots, although he perhaps could be seen as a slight favorite to make the roster. Chip Gaines defends decision to include gay couple on 'Back to the Frontier' show

Television personality Chip Gaines defended the inclusion of a same-sex couple in 'Back to the Frontier,' a new show featuring him and his wife, Joanna, about families who give up technology and try to live as homesteaders did in the 1800s. The show features married couple Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs and their 10-year-old twin sons, sparking backlash from prominent religious conservatives online. Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical pastor Billy Graham, said in a post on social media that the casting of a gay couple is 'very disappointing.' 'While we are to love people, we should love them enough to tell them the truth of God's Word,' Graham said. 'His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman. Promoting something that God defines as sin is in itself sin.' Gaines responded to the criticism in a social media post Sunday, encouraging people to ask questions and 'maybe even learn.' He added, 'It's a sad Sunday when 'non believers' have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian.' Gaines has responded to dozens of other critics in defense of Hanna and Riggs' inclusion in the show, quoting Bible verses and saying there are other TV shows critics could watch. In response to a critic who said 'we are extremely sad because of how much we have grown to admire and appreciate you both,' Gaines responded encouraging Christians to 'judge not' and 'love one another.' Hanna thanked Chip and Joanna Gaines in a post on his Instagram story Tuesday for 'leading with love, listening, and learning.' 'Representation matters deeply — especially for those who are still finding the courage to live their truth,' Hanna said in a longer post responding to the backlash from some conservatives. 'When families like ours are visible, it opens doors for others to feel safe, loved, and validated. Visibility isn't just about being seen; it's about making sure no one feels alone.' The couple has faced backlash before, but more often from those who support LGBTQ rights. They attend the Antioch Community Church, an evangelical church in Waco, Texas, which opposes same-sex marriage. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joanna Gaines said accusations that the couple is racist and anti-LGBTQ are 'so far from who we really are' and that the criticism is 'the stuff that keeps me up.'
