Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 series gets support for Google Gemini AI: Report
Samsung has reportedly begun enabling Google's Gemini assistant on the Galaxy Buds 3 lineup, allowing users to summon Gemini directly from their earbuds. However, the feature only becomes visible when the Buds are connected to a phone running One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. According to a report by 9To5Google, some early users have spotted a new 'Set up Google digital assistant' option under the Voice controls section in the Galaxy Wearable app — but only when paired with a compatible phone. That compatibility is the key hurdle. If your phone has not received Android 16, you will not see the Gemini option yet. One UI 8 is currently installed out of the box on Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE, and is in beta for the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung is set to expand One UI 8 beta to older smartphones next week for the S24 series, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6, and then to the S23 series, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and certain A-series phones in September. This means Gemini support for Galaxy Buds 3 could soon reach a wider range of users as the software rollout broadens. Gemini rollout for Buds 3 series is limited? The 9To5Google report stated that the rollout is inconsistent. Some users with compatible phones can reportedly see the Gemini toggle right away, while others do not — and there are indications Gemini will not run locally on the earbuds themselves (the heavy lifting happens on the connected phone). That means experience and availability can vary by device and region. For context, Gemini first became a headline feature on Google's Pixel Buds Pro 2, and Google has signalled plans to extend Gemini support to third-party earbuds — Sony and Samsung were named among partners expected to gain access. How to get Gemini on Galaxy Buds 3? If you own Galaxy Buds 3 (or Buds 3 Pro) and want hands-free Gemini, check your phone's One UI version and update the Galaxy Wearable app. If your device is already on One UI 8 (new foldables or S25 beta users), look under Voice controls for the Google assistant setup option; otherwise, you'll need to wait for Samsung's wider One UI 8 rollout. 9To5Google has advised consumers to expect the experience to vary while Samsung and Google work through the phased launch.

Samsung to start deleting inactive accounts soon: Here's how to stop it
Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has decided to permanently delete all accounts that have been inactive for 24 months as a new move to ensure better data protection. Emails are being sent out to the IDs associated with users' Samsung accounts with a personalized date mentioned on each of them. If the user fails to take any action by the specified date, their account and all data associated with it will be permanently deleted by the company. This new 'inactive Samsung account policy' is aimed at preventing the personal data of users from being tampered with due to prolonged periods of inactivity which could increase risks of leakage. Data from your Google Account will still be secure since that is completely separate from a Samsung account. 'As per our service's policy, your data in Samsung Cloud including data stored in Smart TV, Family Hub, and Galaxy Wearable will be deleted,' the email reads. All such warning messages to intimate customers about this move will be sent before July 31. Since Samsung accounts are required to access any Galaxy device, it's fairly staple for all customers of the company to have one. If you wish to protect your data from being erased, simply log in to your account using a Galaxy device once again to inform the system that you are still an active user and wish to continue with your previous account. If you fail to do so by the date mentioned in your warning email, the company will consider that you no longer wish to receive the data stored on your previous account and delete all such material. Make sure you are still logged into the email associated with your Samsung account, otherwise you may never receive the warning mail. For those using a secondary Samsung account, the same procedure applies. If you switched to another mobile brand but wish to keep your hold account intact, make sure you log into it once before the assigned deadline.

Older Galaxy Buds models get the deeper integration they deserve with One UI 8
Lil Katz / Android Authority TL;DR One UI 8 adds deeper integration for Samsung's older earbuds. Users can now control sound settings for their older Galaxy earbuds through Quick Settings. This tighter integration doesn't appear to work for the Galaxy Buds Live yet. When One UI 7 was released, it introduced a bevy of changes to Galaxy phones, including deeper Galaxy Buds integration to the Quick Settings panel. However, this integration only worked with the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Now it looks like this support is no longer exclusive to Samsung's latest earbuds with One UI 8. If you own a Galaxy S25 series device and are a part of the beta program, you should see the One UI 8 beta waiting for you. Samsung has now opened up testing in several countries, including the US. While checking out what changes One UI 8 brings to the table, we noticed the update adds deeper integration for older Galaxy Buds models. Instead of thumbing through layers of settings within the Galaxy Wearable app to adjust your sound modes, you can now access them by heading to the Quick Settings panel. Additionally, other controls have been added directly into your phone's Settings. Unfortunately, this support doesn't extend to all older models, as we have found that deeper integration has yet to be added for the Galaxy Buds Live. When the One UI 7 beta introduced audio controls to the revised Quick Settings panel, it was a surprise that there was only support for the Galaxy Buds 3 and Pro. It was assumed that Samsung would add support for older models in a later One UI 7 update. But it looks like we're finally getting the missing support in One UI 8. Got a tip? Talk to us!
