Game Plan on Market bar and restaurant opens in downtown Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A new restaurant and bar is open for business in downtown Johnstown across from 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.
The Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting Wednesday for Game Plan on Market at 353 Market St.
Cambria County Commissioner Thomas Chernisky said the new restaurant will give out-of-town visitors attending concerts and events at the Napoleon Street arena more reason to spend money in Johnstown.
'You are creating memories here,' he told Game Plan on Market owner Rob Barmoy, 'and you are drawing in dollars from out-of-town visitors. That's what we want.'
Barmoy also owns Woodside Bar & Grill in Stonycreek Township, but said he has always wanted to open a business in Johnstown, where he grew up. He's running the restaurant with his daughters Ashley Barmoy and Nicole McAdams.
'The opportunity presented itself, and I thought it would be a good location next to the arena, so I thought I'd take a chance,' he said.
Johnstown Mayor Frank Janakovic thanked Barmoy for opening the business in downtown Johnstown.
'With our Main Street project and other things happening in the next few years, I'm sure you will be very successful in our business district,' Janakovic said.
The restaurant offers a menu with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, smash burgers, pizza, pierogis, wings, and entrees including steak and salmon, as well as TVs for sports fans, billiards and darts.
Barmoy said he looks forward to serving lunch crowds throughout the week as well as weekend crowds.
Game Plan on Market is open six days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is closed on Mondays.
'I have fun enjoying other people's fun,' Barmoy said.
