Distinction for Ukraine teen studying at Stoke-on-Trent College

A student who settled in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme has been celebrating the achievement of a distinction in her Level 3 Games Design Sokolynkova studied at Stoke-on-Trent College in the city has secured a place at Escape Studios in London, where she will go on to study concept art and experimental design for the games, film and animation sectors."I'm really looking forward to expanding my skills, and just working in the industry," she said. Before the war in Ukraine, she said she had had a "really chill life" but after Russia's invasion of her homeland she felt she had become more determined to follow her dreams. 'Amazing teachers' In the first year of her course she learned English, maths and 3D game art and animation, continuing with the latter during her second year of study."We are extremely proud of our learners' achievements," said Hassan Rizvi, the college's principal and CEO."This is a particularly special day as we celebrate the success of our first ever T-Level graduates," he Sokolynkova said college had been an "amazing experience" and that her teachers had been like friends."I found amazing teachers who were enjoying and helping you, and they were happy to help," she added she was sad to be leaving her classmates, but was excited to be moving on."I'm very excited because it's honestly what I really love to do," she said.
