Hi-tech kitchen sets benchmark in student welfare

Representative Image MANGALURU: In a significant step towards modernising student welfare infrastructure, the Ambika Group of Educational Institutions in Puttur has set up a state-of-the-art kitchen that blends efficiency, hygiene, and technology. Run by the Nattoja Foundation Trust, the institution invested in a fully automated cooking facility designed to serve hostel students with nutritious meals promptly and hygienically. Every task, from chopping vegetables to final food preparation, is mechanised. There are machines to knead dough for chapatis, roll the dough into chapatis, transfer them to the cooking area, and even move the cooked chapatis to a designated tray. The machine can produce about 600 to 800 chapatis per hour. When needed, it can also be used to make pooris instead of chapatis. A steam system has been implemented for cooking rice, enabling boiled rice to be cooked in just 15 minutes and parboiled rice in 30 minutes, saving both time and fuel. Vegetables too can be steamed hygienically and efficiently using this system. It is also used for boiling milk. This state-of-the-art kitchen was set up at a cost of approximately Rs 40 lakh. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... 15,962 illegal borewells sealed; 4,033 on DJB's list not found, NGT told

New Delhi: All the district magistrates in Delhi have sealed a total of 15,962 illegal borewells under their jurisdiction. However, 4,033 illegal borewells, the list of which was shared by Delhi Jal Board , were not identified on the ground, Delhi govt informed National Green Tribunal in a report dated May 23. The tribunal has been hearing multiple pleas on illegal groundwater extraction in parts of the capital. In a petition filed in Sept 2022, Ayanagar resident Pritipal Sharma alleged multiple illegal borewells were functional in the area, thus impacting the groundwater table. In the same year, a plea was filed by Chanakya Place resident Ganesh Prasad, similarly alleging the use of illegal borewells in the area. In March, NGT asked all DMs in Delhi to share compliance reports of illegal borewells in their jurisdiction, detailing the action taken so far. This action was based on DJB data, which in Jan this year informed the tribunal there were over 20,000 illegal borewells in the city. Earlier, at least three district magistrates – east, northwest, and southeast Delhi – informed the tribunal that they had so far sealed 12,498 illegal borewells in these districts, and a total of 3,187 borewells were never found on the ground. However, the Delhi environment department later filed a separate report apprising the tribunal that a total of 20,297 illegal borewells were identified by DJB, of which 142 are yet to be sealed, and 160 have a court stay. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 중년될수록 딱딱해지는 복부 "똥뱃살·나잇살" 싹~ 녹였다! 중년비만 나잇살·출렁살 해결 더 알아보기 Undo Delhi govt further said that so far an environmental compensation of nearly Rs 1.2 crore was collected, while officials were directed to collect the remaining compensation from the illegal extractors. It further stated that the NGT's previous orders were placed before the council of ministers and the Delhi cabinet in April, where the council directed the creation of a new borewell policy. It further stated that Delhi govt directed all the DMs to draft an action plan for their districts for the rejuvenation of water bodies. The report further pointed out the stark difference between groundwater availability at 1.6 m in Ranikhera (Rohini) and at 67.8 m in Gadaipur (Mehrauli). According to a Central Groundwater Board's report, Delhi extracted more groundwater in 2024 than it recharged. The latest report from Dec 2024 showed that Delhi recharged nearly 34,190 cubic hectare metres during the year but extracted marginally more — 34,453 cubic hectare metres. The report further said that out of Delhi's 34 assessment units (tehsils), 14 were classified as "over-exploited". Another 13 units were tagged "critical" and two "semi-critical". Five units were in the "safe" category.
