Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore hosts state-level para-table tennis
The Ganga Spine Injury Rehabilitation Centre, a unit of Ganga Hospital, hosted Tamil Nadu's first state-level Para table tennis ranking championship in Coimbatore on August 10.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 80 para athletes from across the State. A. Saravana Sundar, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore, felicitated the winners.
S. Rajasekaran, Chairman of Ganga Hospital and Managing Trustee of the Ganga Spine Injury Foundation, said the journey began when a rehabilitated spinal cord injury survivor expressed interest in table tennis. The foundation has significantly expanded itself by including other sports like wheelchair racing, field athletics, and basketball. This championship marked a significant achievement for the foundation which offers support to para athletes, from coaching to finance. Many athletes supported by the foundation have achieved milestones including representing India at the Asian Games and securing selection for Common Wealth games apart from winning several national medals.
