Kumki elephants to tame rogue elephants

Gannavaram Airport (Krishna district): Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan stated, 'The problem of rogue elephants and their herds in the State has existed for a long time. This sensitive issue between humans and elephants has led to the destruction of hundreds of acres of crops and the loss of dozens of human lives. I believe that with the Kumki elephants provided by the Karnataka government, which responded with a humanitarian approach, the problem in villages adjacent to forests will largely be resolved.' He mentioned that the Karnataka government has currently provided four elephants, and the remaining elephants will arrive in two to three weeks. The Kumki elephants will be transported to a special training center in Kuppam for appropriate training and their assistance will be sought when needed. Pawan Kalyan spoke to the national media at Vijayawada Airport on Wednesday night. The Karnataka government has responded very positively. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre took the initiative to provide Kumki elephants to solve the problem. Regarding liquor scam, Pawan Kalyan said that the authorised investigation agency is currently investigating the liquor scam that occurred during the previous government's tenure. Officials are conducting the investigation appropriately, he added. He alleged that during the previous government's tenure, they claimed 'door-to-door ration distribution' and committed a scam worth Rs 1,600 crore. He said the vehicles never went to door-to-door. Everyone had to go to the vehicle that came to their street to collect rations. 'The then-government officials misused 9,260 vehicles as a 'green channel' for illegal ration rice transportation. Even now, the government is considering giving those vehicles back to the owners out of humanitarian consideration and providing them with a livelihood.' The State Cabinet has decided to cancel these MDU vehicles introduced by the previous government. We will proceed appropriately on this, the Deputy CM stated.

Detailed investigations underway into fire mishaps near PM's convoy, Amaravati venue

VIJAYAWADA/GUNTUR: Investigations are underway into two fire incidents that occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Amaravati on May 2 to relaunch the capital city construction works. The incidents, which raised concerns due to their timing, were reported near Vijayawada International Airport (Gannavaram) in Krishna district and Venkatapalem village in the Amaravati capital region. The first fire broke out near Buddavaram, close to the Gannavaram Airport, just as the Prime Minister's aircraft was preparing to land. Later that evening, another blaze erupted near the meeting venue in Amaravati around the time when PM's helicopter took off, triggering plumes of thick smoke in both cases. At Gannavaram, preliminary findings suggest the fire was likely accidental. Gannavaram Circle Inspector Siva Prasad said it may have originated from dry gum arabic (Tumma) bushes covering over five acres. 'Around 100 construction workers were in the area. A discarded cigarette or matchstick could have ignited the fire,' he said, confirming that all possible causes are being examined.

AP CM Chandrababu welcomes PM Modi to Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to visit the construction site of the state's capital, Amaravati. In a tweet, Naidu expressed gratitude for the central government's support in realising the dream capital for the people of Andhra Pradesh, emphasising that Amaravati would become a people's capital, generating jobs and economic opportunities. He reiterated his welcome to PM Modi, commending his cooperation on behalf of the state's citizens. In related developments, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched a missile test centre in Gullalamoda, Nagayalanka mandal, Krishna district. DRDO Chairman Sameer V. Kamath inspected the preparations for the virtual inauguration of the facility, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi from Amaravati. With an estimated cost of Rs. 20,000 crore, the test centre is seen as a significant advancement in India's defence capabilities. Security arrangements have been heightened in the Gullalamoda area in light of the Prime Minister's visit. Ahead of Modi's arrival, security measures have been intensified at Gannavaram Airport, with operations being overseen by authorities divided into 15 sectors. Each sector comprises an SP and an ASP-level officer responsible for security during the Prime Minister's visit. Modi is expected to arrive in Gannavaram from Thiruvananthapuram at 2:45 pm and will travel to the Assembly premises in Amaravati via an Air Force helicopter, before returning to Delhi at 5:15 pm. The Andhra Pradesh government anticipates a turnout of around 500,000 attendees at the Prime Minister's House. To facilitate this, 8,000 buses have been arranged to transport people from eight surrounding districts, with a total of 6,600 buses allocated for these areas. An additional 1,400 buses have been organised for the remaining constituencies. Each bus will have a designated government employee responsible for ensuring safe travel to and from the event. To cater to the anticipated high turnout, provisions for meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner have been arranged, alongside refreshments such as buttermilk, ORS, and fruits considering the summer heat. Medical teams have been deployed at local health centres and along key routes to ensure the well-being of attendees as part of the extensive support services being mobilised for the event. Today is a proud and important day for the people of Andhra Pradesh. I warmly welcome Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji to Amaravati as he arrives to restart the development of our people's capital. #Amaravati stands as a symbol of our shared hopes and dreams.
