Man sentenced to prison for trafficking meth into Florida, Bradenton police say

A man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for trafficking nearly nine kilograms of meth into Florida, Bradenton police said. In December 2023, Nicolas Garcia Hernandez traveled from Tennessee to Florida and delivered about 3 kilograms of meth to a Drug Enforcement Administration informant, prosecutors said. In May 2024, investigators learned that Garcia Hernandez was going to make another delivery to the DEA informant. Florida Highway Patrol troopers thwarted the meth deal on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County. After a K-9 picked up the scent, troopers found nearly 6 kilograms of meth in the car, prosecutors said. According to an arrest report, investigators believe Garcia Hernandez acted as a courier, picking up the drugs in Georgia and intending to deliver the drugs to someone in Florida. Troopers said the drugs were hidden inside a Coca-Cola box and a Home Depot bucket. Garcia Hernandez pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to sell meth in November, according to court records.
