Massive changes again in Watford head coach betting market
It's a case of either somebody knows something, or nobody knows anything – in the space of a few hours the betting market for next Watford FC head coach has seen one odds-on favourite replaced with another. In the middle of the afternoon today, Garcia Pimienta was the 1/5 favourite and that is the sort price where the bookies have shortened a contender because they believe it's going to happen. However, in the last half an hour Pimienta has shot out to 2/1 and been replaced at the head of the market by former frontrunner Diego Alonso, who is now priced at 1/2. It is quite some swing in the market in such a relatively short space of time, although Alonso has previously been the favourite in the days since the bookies priced things up. The third favourite in the market Luis Garcia Plaza, who is an 8/1 shot. After that, all the other contenders are priced at double figures – Joso Rojo Martin, known as Pacheta, is next in the list of prices at 12/1. Alonso has been out of work since being sacked by Greek side Panathinaikos in October. The 50-year-old from Montevideo was appointed manager of Uruguay in December 2021, and after four wins in his first four games in charge, he secured qualification for the World Cup in Qatar. A year later, after failing to progress from the group stage in the finals, he handed in his resignation and said he wanted to return to club management. His next job was as manager of Sevilla, taking over in October 2023 when the Spanish side were 14th in the La Liga On December 16, having failed to win any of his eight league matches and having been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after finishing last in their group, Sevilla sacked Alonso.

Sevilla sack manager Garcia Pimienta after fourth straight loss
April 13 (Reuters) - Sevilla dismissed their manager Javier Garcia Pimienta on Sunday, two days after their 1-0 defeat at Valencia, marking their fourth consecutive LaLiga loss. The seven-times Europa League champions are 13th in La Liga, with 36 points from 31 games, well off the European places and just seven points above the relegation zone. "Sevilla would like to thank Garcia Pimienta for his work over these months, and his professionalism, wishing him best luck in future endeavours," the club said in a statement. The 50-year-old joined Sevilla on a two-year deal in July last year, replacing Quique Sanchez Flores. He previously led Las Palmas to promotion in 2022–23 and secured their LaLiga survival the next season. Sevilla welcome Deportivo Alaves next in LaLiga on April 20.

Sevilla sack head coach Garcia Pimienta after fourth successive defeat
Sevilla have sacked their head coach Javier Garcia Pimienta after Friday's 1-0 defeat at Valencia. Garcia Pimienta leaves Sevilla 13th in La Liga, with only nine wins from 31 league matches this season and seven points above the relegation zone. The 50-year-old signed a two-year-deal with Sevilla in June 2024 after two-and-a-half seasons with Las Palmas, whom he led to promotion in 2022-23 before keeping the side in La Liga the following season. He also previously managed Barcelona's reserve side in the third tier. Advertisement The defeat at Valencia was Sevilla's fourth successive league loss, a run which included their first league defeat to city rivals Real Betis since September 2018, a run which has seen them slip into the bottom half of the standings. Sevilla were also eliminated from the Copa del Rey in January after a 4-1 defeat against second division side Almeria. Last season's 12th-place finish was Sevilla's lowest in La Liga since their relegation in 2000. Sevilla return to action on April 20 when they host Alaves. ()
