NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama entering final weekends of SEC baseball play

NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama entering final weekends of SEC baseball play Alabama baseball capped its impressive run in midweek games Tuesday with a 10-2 win over the Troy Trojans in a matchup of Top 25 teams. Behind outfielders Kade Snell (4-for-5, HR, 5 RBI) and Garrett Staton (2-4, 3 RBI) and shortstop Justin Lebron (2-2, HR), Alabama jumped out to a 7-0 lead early at Riddle-Pace Field. With the win, the Crimson Tide finished with a perfect 13-0 record in midweek games this season. Alabama, ranked No. 20 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is now 37-12 overall after its bounce-back win. It was a welcome response from a team that blew a five-run lead late at Vanderbilt in a gut-punch loss in the series-deciding game on Sunday. Rob Vaughn's team is ranked No. 12 in the RPI. Wednesday saw the release of the updated field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament from both Baseball America and D1 Baseball. Here are the latest postseason projections for Alabama. Updated Alabama baseball NCAA Tournament projections Baseball America: Two-seed projection, visiting Coastal Carolina (38-11) at Conway (S.C.) Regional with UConn Huskies (30-18) and High Point (33-15). Baseball America dropped Alabama as a projected regional site host to one of the top two-seed teams after its series loss to Vanderbilt. At one point, the Crimson Tide were considered a top eight national seed by Baseball America after their series win over Oklahoma at the end of March. Coastal Carolina moved to No. 14 in the Coaches Poll this week and defeated No. 9 Clemson on Tuesday. D1 Baseball: Two-seed projection, visiting Clemson Tigers (37-13) at Clemson Regional with Cincinnati Bearcats (28-20), and Wright State (30-15). D1 Baseball kept the Crimson Tide in a projected Clemson Regional with the host Tigers and Wright State while subbing out Xavier for Cincinnati. The team that ranks just ahead of Alabama in D1 Baseball's host site projections is No. 16 seed UCLA. NCAA Baseball Tournament projections, updated May 7 The Texas Longhorns (39-8) remain the No. 1 overall seed in both Baseball America and D1 Baseball projections. Baseball America has the Georgia Bulldogs as the No. 2 seed, Florida State at No. 3, Arkansas at No. 4, and Auburn rounding out the top five seeds. D1 Baseball has Arkansas as the No. 2 seed, followed by FSU at No. 3. LSU and Georgia round out the top five seeds. Alabama schedule 2025 The Crimson Tide (13-11 SEC) can significantly boost their chances at grabbing one of the final spots as a regional host in the NCAA Tournament this weekend against Georgia (39-11, 15-9). The Tide host the Bulldogs beginning Friday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Alabama visits the Florida Gators (25-21) to close the regular season May 15-17. Alabama dominates Game 3, sweeps Missouri in SEC baseball action

Alabama dominates Game 3, sweeps Missouri in SEC baseball action Following three consecutive series' losses, the Alabama Crimson Tide were back inside of Sewell-Thomas Stadium for SEC action this past weekend by hosting a struggling Missouri Tigers team for a three-game set. As to why Missouri was struggling coming to Tuscaloosa, the Tigers were winless in SEC play at 0-18 entering this series at Alabama, and well, they left town in a similar way as the Crimson Tide swept this three-game set. However, Alabama's sweep did not come without some struggles at times for the Crimson Tide, especially during Game 1 on Thursday night. In Game 1, Missouri originally jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, but Alabama would come fighting back to eventually tie the game in the sixth via a three-run home run from Garrett Staton, and later took the lead with a two-run long ball from Coleman Mizell in the eighth. Will Hodo also had a two-run home run for Alabama in the win, while the Crimson Tide's pitching after the first inning was impressive, headlined by strong outings from Carson Ozmer and Matthew Heiberger. On Friday, it was however all Alabama, as the Crimson Tide claimed an early lead and cruised to a 7-3 win behind a strong start from starter Riley Quick, who allowed only one earned run over 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts. The long ball was once again a story for Alabama here as both Kade Snell and Jason Torres hit home runs, while Richie Bonomolo Jr. also had a strong day going 3-for-5. Saturday's series finale was also all Alabama yet again, as the Crimson Tide rolled to a dominant 12-1 victory in seven innings behind an eight-run second inning. The long ball was a story once again for Alabama as Hodo hit two, along with Torres and Bryce Fowler hitting one each, while others such as Snell, Bonomolo, and starter Zane Adams all had big days. With these results, Alabama's record for the season improves to 35-10 overall, while also now 12-9 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will not play a midweek game this week, and instead will return to action next weekend on the road at Vanderbilt for a SEC series.
