NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama entering final weekends of SEC baseball play
Alabama baseball capped its impressive run in midweek games Tuesday with a 10-2 win over the Troy Trojans in a matchup of Top 25 teams.
Behind outfielders Kade Snell (4-for-5, HR, 5 RBI) and Garrett Staton (2-4, 3 RBI) and shortstop Justin Lebron (2-2, HR), Alabama jumped out to a 7-0 lead early at Riddle-Pace Field. With the win, the Crimson Tide finished with a perfect 13-0 record in midweek games this season.
Alabama, ranked No. 20 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is now 37-12 overall after its bounce-back win. It was a welcome response from a team that blew a five-run lead late at Vanderbilt in a gut-punch loss in the series-deciding game on Sunday. Rob Vaughn's team is ranked No. 12 in the RPI.
Wednesday saw the release of the updated field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament from both Baseball America and D1 Baseball. Here are the latest postseason projections for Alabama.
Updated Alabama baseball NCAA Tournament projections
Baseball America: Two-seed projection, visiting Coastal Carolina (38-11) at Conway (S.C.) Regional with UConn Huskies (30-18) and High Point (33-15).
Baseball America dropped Alabama as a projected regional site host to one of the top two-seed teams after its series loss to Vanderbilt. At one point, the Crimson Tide were considered a top eight national seed by Baseball America after their series win over Oklahoma at the end of March. Coastal Carolina moved to No. 14 in the Coaches Poll this week and defeated No. 9 Clemson on Tuesday.
D1 Baseball: Two-seed projection, visiting Clemson Tigers (37-13) at Clemson Regional with Cincinnati Bearcats (28-20), and Wright State (30-15).
D1 Baseball kept the Crimson Tide in a projected Clemson Regional with the host Tigers and Wright State while subbing out Xavier for Cincinnati. The team that ranks just ahead of Alabama in D1 Baseball's host site projections is No. 16 seed UCLA.
NCAA Baseball Tournament projections, updated May 7
The Texas Longhorns (39-8) remain the No. 1 overall seed in both Baseball America and D1 Baseball projections. Baseball America has the Georgia Bulldogs as the No. 2 seed, Florida State at No. 3, Arkansas at No. 4, and Auburn rounding out the top five seeds. D1 Baseball has Arkansas as the No. 2 seed, followed by FSU at No. 3. LSU and Georgia round out the top five seeds.
Alabama schedule 2025
The Crimson Tide (13-11 SEC) can significantly boost their chances at grabbing one of the final spots as a regional host in the NCAA Tournament this weekend against Georgia (39-11, 15-9). The Tide host the Bulldogs beginning Friday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Alabama visits the Florida Gators (25-21) to close the regular season May 15-17.

Transfer triple crown winner commits to Tennessee baseball over LSU, Texas A&M
Transfer triple crown winner commits to Tennessee baseball over LSU, Texas A&M Tyler Myatt committed to Tennessee baseball and head coach Tony Vitello. "Let's do it Vol baseball," Myatt announced. "I'm staying home." He committed to the Vols over LSU and Texas A&M. Myatt, a redshirt freshman at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee, won the junior college triple crown in 2025. He recorded a .484 batting average, 31 home runs, 110 RBIs, 93 runs, nine stolen bases and 105 hits. Myatt helped the Governors to a runner-up finish in the Junior College World Series and was named to the All-Tournament Team as a second baseman. He was also named TCCAA Player of the Year. Myatt also led the nation in slugging percentage (1.014), hits and total bases (220). His 31 home runs and 110 RBIs represent program records for Walters State and eclipse a previous mark set by current Tennessee player Alberto Osuna. Prior to Walters State, Myatt played for Claiborne High School in New Tazewell, Tennessee. The No. 14 national seed Vols (46-17) will play No. 3 national seed Arkansas (46-13) in the Fayetteville Super Regional of the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Game No. 1 of the best-of-three series is slated for Saturday at 5 p.m. EDT. ESPN will televise the matchup between the two SEC schools. Follow Vols Wire on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

Alabama ignored by No. 4 CB despite connection
The post Alabama ignored by No. 4 CB despite connection appeared first on ClutchPoints. Alabama football is in dire need of college football recruiting momentum for the summer. Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have delivered quiet recruiting results for the 2026 cycle. And now the nation's No. 4 cornerback isn't considering 'Bama — despite having a prominent family connection there. Advertisement Four-star cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick unveiled his top five list via Hayes Fawcett of On3 Thursday. He's the younger brother of famed Alabama defender turned NFL Pro Bowler Minkah Fitzpatrick. The 6-foot, 185-pound CB doesn't list Alabama in his list of suitors, however. Miami out of the Atlantic Coast Conference made the cut. Same with Florida as his second in-state opportunity. But then the Fort Lauderdale native places defending national champion Ohio State, then SEC representatives Texas and Georgia as his final options. The alma mater of the five-time Pro Bowl safety gets ignored by the talented '26 CB. Did Alabama offer No. 4 CB and brother of Minkah Fitzpatrick? Will McLelland-Imagn Images The St. Thomas Aquinas talent reeled in more than 40 offers. Alabama rose as one of his offers. Advertisement However, Fitzpatrick listed the Tide as 'cool.' Meaning he's not considering Alabama compared to the other five programs on his radar. The elder Fitzpatrick played in Tuscaloosa during a time Alabama delivered aggressive recruiting tactics. Former head coach Nick Saban created a habit of chasing five and four-star talent — regardless of where they lived. Saban snatched the future Steelers defender via the 2015 recruiting class. Minkah Fitzpatrick arrived as a five-star prospect and the state of New Jersey's top-ranked prospect by 247Sports. This 'Bama class holds only five verbal commits. Alabama ranks 41st overall in the '26 recruiting cycle. DeBoer managed to land five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds on March 26. But he's the Tide's lone five-star verbal pledge. Alabama did win over prized in-state talent Kamhariyan Johnson in April. But the edge rusher represents DeBoer and Alabama's last verbal commitment. Now 'Bama struggled to win over the family member of a beloved Tide defender.

Three Predictions: Brayden Parks, Ohio State, Alabama
Rivals national recruiting analyst Greg Smith has predictions on a Rivals250 defensive tackle earning his fifth star, Ohio State landing a top offensive target and Alabama zeroing in on a Midwest quarterback. MORE MIDWEST: Rumor Mill | Wisconsin making a push with four-star EDGE McHale Blade NEW RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Top storylines | Ten prospects who could rise with a big June CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info BRAYDEN PARKS BECOMES A FIVE-STAR Even though Parks is already a top-150 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 he is still on the rise. He just wrapped up a visit to Oregon where he camped and has the Ducks coaches impressed with him. He'll visit Notre Dame and Ohio State next. Advertisement His teammate, wide receiver Quentin Burrell, is also generating five-star buzz. It's tough for an interior defensive lineman to reach that status but if someone can do it, it'll be the 6-foot-3, 305-pounder out of Chicago. His blend of size, speed and power makes him a major force along the line. His recruitment is just heating up and will be hotly contested. FAVOUR AKIH JOINS THE BUCKEYES' CLASS AFTER HIS VISIT The long-awaited official visit to Ohio State is happening this weekend for the four-star running back from Ohio. Akih's recruitment has gotten quieter after a huge winter but he's one of the best backs in the country this cycle. Once Ohio State turned up the heat it became very difficult for Miami and others to continue pushing for his pledge. Advertisement After his visit back to Columbus this weekend, I'm predicting that he'll officially join the Buckeyes' 2026 class, which is in the hunt for the No. 1 ranking once again. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT ALABAMA SIGNS A QUARTERBACK FROM THE MIDWEST One of the more underrated storylines of this recruiting cycle has been Alabama quarterback recruiting. Previously under coach Nick Saban there was never a question if they'd get a top prospect. Coach Kalen DeBoer kept that rolling by landing last cycle's No. 1 player, Keelon Russell. It's incredibly hard to follow that up with another top prospect so the Tide staff has taken its time with a deep evaluation. Advertisement Now it looks like Alabama is strongly in the mix for a pair of signal-callers from the Midwest. Ohio's Matt Ponatoski and Nebraska's Jett Thomalla are both atop the board for Alabama's staff. Thomalla took an unofficial visit the weekend of May 30 and Ponatoski will take an official visit the weekend of June 6. I believe the Tide will either flip Thomalla from Iowa State or nab the dual-sport athlete Ponatoski, who also stars on the baseball diamond. Both players have enormous potential with some coaching by a noted QB guru in DeBoer. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ALABAMA FANS AT
