BRAYDEN PARKS BECOMES A FIVE-STAR
Even though Parks is already a top-150 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 he is still on the rise. He just wrapped up a visit to Oregon where he camped and has the Ducks coaches impressed with him. He'll visit Notre Dame and Ohio State next.

His teammate, wide receiver Quentin Burrell, is also generating five-star buzz. It's tough for an interior defensive lineman to reach that status but if someone can do it, it'll be the 6-foot-3, 305-pounder out of Chicago. His blend of size, speed and power makes him a major force along the line. His recruitment is just heating up and will be hotly contested.
FAVOUR AKIH JOINS THE BUCKEYES' CLASS AFTER HIS VISIT
The long-awaited official visit to Ohio State is happening this weekend for the four-star running back from Ohio. Akih's recruitment has gotten quieter after a huge winter but he's one of the best backs in the country this cycle. Once Ohio State turned up the heat it became very difficult for Miami and others to continue pushing for his pledge.

After his visit back to Columbus this weekend, I'm predicting that he'll officially join the Buckeyes' 2026 class, which is in the hunt for the No. 1 ranking once again.

ALABAMA SIGNS A QUARTERBACK FROM THE MIDWEST
One of the more underrated storylines of this recruiting cycle has been Alabama quarterback recruiting. Previously under coach Nick Saban there was never a question if they'd get a top prospect. Coach Kalen DeBoer kept that rolling by landing last cycle's No. 1 player, Keelon Russell. It's incredibly hard to follow that up with another top prospect so the Tide staff has taken its time with a deep evaluation.

Now it looks like Alabama is strongly in the mix for a pair of signal-callers from the Midwest. Ohio's Matt Ponatoski and Nebraska's Jett Thomalla are both atop the board for Alabama's staff. Thomalla took an unofficial visit the weekend of May 30 and Ponatoski will take an official visit the weekend of June 6.
I believe the Tide will either flip Thomalla from Iowa State or nab the dual-sport athlete Ponatoski, who also stars on the baseball diamond.
Both players have enormous potential with some coaching by a noted QB guru in DeBoer.

Draymond Green disagrees with LeBron James' idea for NBA schedule change Each NBA season is long and arduous, and it tests every single player in the league from day one until the moment each team is done for the year. Many people have suggested that the league shorten its schedule from 82 games for each team to roughly 60 in order to reduce fatigue and injuries, as well as possibly increase the quality of play. Such proposals will likely never see the light of day, mostly because it would mean reduced revenue and pay for everyone involved, from superstar players down to those who live paycheck to paycheck. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James recently made an interesting suggestion on his "Mind the Game" podcast. He said that perhaps the NBA should give its players several weeks off between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. "If they're going to allow it to be as physical as it is, you've got to give us a little time to prepare for it," James said. "Maybe 12 to 15 games left in the regular season. Like a month. Give us a month to prepare for it. Because it goes from zero to 100." Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, a friend and rival of his, pushed back on that suggestion. Green feels such a break would do more harm than good. 'I know Bron talked about there being a month off before the playoffs; I don't know that that's possible,' Green said. 'A, guys will get a bit out of shape and can have an adverse effect, guys getting back in, and all of a sudden, you pull something because it's been a month." The NBA has already made some adjustments in recent years in order to make its schedule a little easier. It has cut down on the number of back-to-back games, and it has given teams several days off surrounding the All-Star game in order to make it, in effect, a mini-vacation, especially for those who don't participate in it. But what James suggested is extremely unlikely to ever take place. The league would either need to compress its regular season schedule, shorten the offseason or reduce the number of regular-season games, and the downsides would probably greatly outweigh the benefits.

Despite the issues Marina Mabrey has had with both the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun, she showed on Friday that she can be an impactful player when she gets it going. Advertisement Mabrey had a sensational game for the Sun in their thrilling 84-76 win over the Atlanta Dream on Friday, exploding for 34 points on 13-of-22 shooting. The 28-year-old guard also went 3-of-8 from deep and had four assists and four rebounds to give the Sun their second win of the season. Atlanta, a team that had only lost twice entering the contest and was riding a four-game winning streak, just couldn't find a way to stop Mabrey. The former Notre Dame standout was particularly incredible in the third quarter, during which she scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting — preventing Atlanta from pulling away. It's certainly an interesting turn for Marina Mabrey, who recently played one of the worst games in WNBA history. Advertisement In the Sun's loss to the New York Liberty last Sunday, she had eight points on 2-of-11 shooting and finished with a -55 plus-minus rating — the lowest plus-minus rating in a single game in the league ever. It is worth noting, though, that the Sun's only wins so far this 2025 season came in games when Mabrey scored more than 25 points. Their other victory was an 85-83 win over the Indiana Fever where Mabrey dropped 26 points. Mabrey was previously part of the Chicago Sky from 2023 to 2024. She played alongside All-Star forward Angel Reese last campaign, but she didn't finish the season with the Windy City franchise after requesting a trade. Chicago sent Mabrey to the Sun, getting Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson in return, per ESPN. The Sky also received a 2025 second-round pick and the rights to swap first-round picks with Connecticut in 2026.
