Social media reacts to Alabama's loss vs. Miami in Hattiesburg Regional opener On Friday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide opened play at the 2025 Hattiesburg Regional with a matchup with the Miami Hurricanes. In what was a 5-3 loss, Alabama originally fell behind in a big hole early, as Miami struck for a three-run home run in the first inning, and later added another in the third to hold a 4-0 lead. However, Alabama would begin to make things interesting starting in the fourth inning, as the Crimson Tide scored three runs in the frame, headlined by a two-RBI double from Brennen Norton. Miami immediately responded in the fifth with a home run however, a lead that they would maintain throughout the conclusion of the game, even despite the Crimson Tide making things interesting late in the ninth inning with what was nearly a walk-off home run from Kade Snell. New NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama baseball after takedown of top-ranked Georgia Alabama baseball is coming off arguably its best week of the 2025 college baseball season to date. The Crimson Tide jumped out to a big lead over a Top 25 Troy Trojans team on May 6 for a 10-2 win on the road and followed it up by taking two of three from a Georgia Bulldogs team that was ranked in the top five nationally, including No. 1 in Baseball America's rankings. Kade Snell, Justin Lebron, Bryce Fowler and Richie Bonomolo had big performances in helping the Crimson Tide quickly forget an ugly 19-3 loss on Friday and rally for a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. Alabama, up four spots to No. 16 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is now 39-13 overall and 15-12 in SEC play entering the final weekend of the regular season. The Crimson Tide also rose four spots in the RPI to No. 8 after beating Georgia and will face the Florida Gators beginning Thursday in Gainesville. Here's where the major outlets see Alabama on the seed line for the 2025 NCAA Tournament entering the final weekend of SEC regular season play. Baseball America: Alabama is No. 12 overall seed, hosting Wake Forest (34-18), UConn (33-19) and Fairfield (36-15) in Tuscaloosa Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. D1 Baseball: Alabama is No. 14 overall seed, hosting Southern Miss (38-13), Arizona State (35-18) and Missouri State (27-22) in Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tennessean: Alabama is No. 10 overall seed, hosting Clemson (38-15), Northeastern (41-9) and Wright State (32-17) in Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tennessean's Aria Gerson has Alabama just below Coastal Carolina and one spot ahead of the Oregon Ducks in her NCAA Tournament bracket predictions. Top five NCAA Baseball Tournament seed projections, updated May 14 Despite losing back-to-back weekend series (to Arkansas and Florida), the Texas Longhorns (40-10) remain the projected No. 1 overall seed by the four outlets mentioned above. Baseball America has LSU as the No. 2 seed, Auburn at No. 3, Georgia at No. 4, and Arkansas rounding out the top five seeds. D1 Baseball also has LSU as the No. 2 seed, but with Arkansas at No. 3. Florida State and Vanderbilt round out the top five seeds after the Commodores' big series win in Knoxville. On3 moved Auburn up to its projected No. 2 overall seed. Alabama jumps in new Top 25 college baseball rankings after huge series win over Georgia The Alabama Crimson Tide got a big series victory over a top-ranked college baseball team over the weekend at a rainy Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa. After dropping the series opener against the Georgia Bulldogs 19-3 in seven innings on Friday, Kade Snell, Justin Lebron, Bryce Fowler and the Crimson Tide rallied to sweep both games of a doubleheader Sunday, 9-3 in Game 1 and 5-4 in Game 2. The series win made an impact in Monday's new top 25 rankings, which saw Alabama (39-13 overall, 15-12 SEC) rise four spots to No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. The Tide moved past West Virginia (40-10), the Oklahoma Sooners and Troy Trojans (37-16) in the Coaches Poll. Alabama defeated Troy, 10-2, on Tuesday to finish 13-0 in midweek play for the season. In Baseball America's new top 25 rankings, Alabama jumped nine spots to No. 16, one spot below Dallas Baptist (36-13) and one spot ahead of the Clemson Tigers (38-15). Baseball America said of coach Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide: "Alabama arguably turned in its best week of the season to this point. Alabama's highest ranking again came in The Athletic's Top 25 rankings. The Crimson Tide cracked the top 10, one spot below No. 9 Oregon (38-13) and one spot ahead of No. 11 NC State (32-16). Over at Perfect Game, Alabama moved up seven spots to No. 16, one spot below Clemson and one spot ahead of UCLA. And at D1 Baseball, veteran analyst Kendall Rogers and staff moved Alabama up five spots to No. 18. The Tide rank one spot below No. 16 Tennessee in those rankings. At the top of the rankings, the LSU Tigers (40-12) climbed to No. 1 in all the major top 25 polls after taking two of three from the Arkansas Razorbacks (41-11) in a top five series in Baton Rouge over the weekend. Alabama sweeps Sunday doubleheader, picks up massive series win vs. Georgia This past weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide played one of their more important series' of the 2025 season so far, hosting the Georgia Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa for a three-game SEC set. A multi-day span in which weather certainly played a role, it was Alabama who came out of the weekend victorious as well, taking two-of-three from the Bulldogs to pickup a needed series win. The series originally started Friday night in Tuscaloosa for Game 1, which would produce one of Alabama's ugliest losses yet this season via a 19-3 defeat in seven innings. Alabama was out-hit a combined 15-4 in the contest, and aside from a Kade Snell three-RBI performance, there weren't many positives from Game 1. In Game 2 however, the start of the contest was moved to Friday as a result of weather, but the game would not end until Sunday due to rain. The Crimson Tide would win the game as well by a final score of 9-3, led by a multi-RBI performance from each of Richie Bonomolo Jr., Bryce Fowler, and Justin Lebron, while closer Carson Ozmer had two shutout innings to close it out. Shortly after, Alabama and Georgia met Sunday afternoon for the rubber match series finale, a game in which the Crimson Tide came away with a 5-4 victory. Alabama jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the contest after a RBI each from Will Hodo, Jason Torres, and Snell, the latter two of which were home runs. Alongside that group, Lebron also had a big day offensively going 3-for-4 with a RBI, while Zane Adams struck out eight batters over four innings. Ozmer also collected a save, which was No. 16 on the year. As a result, Alabama's record now sits at 39-13 overall for the season, while also now 15-12 in SEC play. Alabama's final week of the regular season will include a road series at Florida, starting Thursday night in Gainesville. Behind outfielders Kade Snell (4-for-5, HR, 5 RBI) and Garrett Staton (2-4, 3 RBI) and shortstop Justin Lebron (2-2, HR), Alabama jumped out to a 7-0 lead early at Riddle-Pace Field. With the win, the Crimson Tide finished with a perfect 13-0 record in midweek games this season. Alabama, ranked No. 20 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is now 37-12 overall after its bounce-back win. It was a welcome response from a team that blew a five-run lead late at Vanderbilt in a gut-punch loss in the series-deciding game on Sunday. Rob Vaughn's team is ranked No. 12 in the RPI. Wednesday saw the release of the updated field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament from both Baseball America and D1 Baseball. Here are the latest postseason projections for Alabama. Regional with UConn Huskies (30-18) and High Point (33-15). Baseball America dropped Alabama as a projected regional site host to one of the top two-seed teams after its series loss to Vanderbilt. At one point, the Crimson Tide were considered a top eight national seed by Baseball America after their series win over Oklahoma at the end of March. Coastal Carolina moved to No. 14 in the Coaches Poll this week and defeated No. 9 Clemson on Tuesday. D1 Baseball: Two-seed projection, visiting Clemson Tigers (37-13) at Clemson Regional with Cincinnati Bearcats (28-20), and Wright State (30-15). D1 Baseball kept the Crimson Tide in a projected Clemson Regional with the host Tigers and Wright State while subbing out Xavier for Cincinnati. The team that ranks just ahead of Alabama in D1 Baseball's host site projections is No. 16 seed UCLA. Baseball America has the Georgia Bulldogs as the No. 2 seed, Florida State at No. 3, Arkansas at No. 4, and Auburn rounding out the top five seeds. D1 Baseball has Arkansas as the No. 2 seed, followed by FSU at No. 3. LSU and Georgia round out the top five seeds. Alabama schedule 2025 The Crimson Tide (13-11 SEC) can significantly boost their chances at grabbing one of the final spots as a regional host in the NCAA Tournament this weekend against Georgia (39-11, 15-9).
