Alabama sweeps Sunday doubleheader, picks up massive series win vs. Georgia
This past weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide played one of their more important series' of the 2025 season so far, hosting the Georgia Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa for a three-game SEC set.
A multi-day span in which weather certainly played a role, it was Alabama who came out of the weekend victorious as well, taking two-of-three from the Bulldogs to pickup a needed series win.
The series originally started Friday night in Tuscaloosa for Game 1, which would produce one of Alabama's ugliest losses yet this season via a 19-3 defeat in seven innings. Alabama was out-hit a combined 15-4 in the contest, and aside from a Kade Snell three-RBI performance, there weren't many positives from Game 1.
In Game 2 however, the start of the contest was moved to Friday as a result of weather, but the game would not end until Sunday due to rain. The Crimson Tide would win the game as well by a final score of 9-3, led by a multi-RBI performance from each of Richie Bonomolo Jr., Bryce Fowler, and Justin Lebron, while closer Carson Ozmer had two shutout innings to close it out.
Shortly after, Alabama and Georgia met Sunday afternoon for the rubber match series finale, a game in which the Crimson Tide came away with a 5-4 victory. Alabama jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the contest after a RBI each from Will Hodo, Jason Torres, and Snell, the latter two of which were home runs.
Alongside that group, Lebron also had a big day offensively going 3-for-4 with a RBI, while Zane Adams struck out eight batters over four innings. Ozmer also collected a save, which was No. 16 on the year.
As a result, Alabama's record now sits at 39-13 overall for the season, while also now 15-12 in SEC play. Alabama's final week of the regular season will include a road series at Florida, starting Thursday night in Gainesville.

Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida
Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida Former star Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney may soon have a new home. Per Baseball America's Jacob Rudner, Florida is in the mix for the former Fighting Irish backstop, who hit .348 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs as a sophomore with the Fighting Irish. He is one of the more intriguing players currently in the transfer portal. This past season, the Gators used Luke Heyman and Brody Donay behind the plate. An injury to Heyman near the end of the year forced Donay to become the full-time catcher the rest of the way, but his defense was an issue. Could the Gators shift him to first base or designated hitter? UF did bring in JUCO catcher AJ Malzone, but landing Tinney would be a real coup. It helps the cause that the Gators landed former ND pitcher Ricky Reeth, whose pitches were caught by Tinney in South Bend this past season. Losing Tinney was a tough blow for the Irish. He was the team's best player and a centerpiece of Shawn Stiffler's rebuild in South Bend. Tony Vitello discusses returning to Arkansas for Fayetteville Super Regional
Tony Vitello discusses returning to Arkansas for Fayetteville Super Regional No. 14 national seed Tennessee (46-17) advanced to a super regional after winning the Knoxville Regional. The Vols will face No. 3 national seed Arkansas (46-13), Saturday-Monday, in the NCAA Tournament Fayetteville Super Regional. The Fayetteville Super Regional will mark the Vols' second series at Arkansas in 2025. Arkansas won a regular-season series finale against Tennessee, 2-1, May 15-17, at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Since playing at Arkansas to conclude regular-season play, the Vols have compiled a 5-2 record in the SEC Tournament and Knoxville Regional. Tennessee defeated Alabama and Texas, while losing to Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament. More: How to watch NCAA Tournament baseball super regionals: Times, TV channels Ahead of the Game 1 between the Vols and Razorbacks, eighth-year head coach Tony Vitello discussed Tennessee returning to Arkansas for a second time this season. 'I think every game we've played since we've been there has been basically cut-throat,' Vitello said. 'I know it's double elimination format once you get to the regional. Different type of format going to Hoover this year, and we've had some good appearances or runs in Hoover, but we've also had a couple times, whether it went good or bad, the first day wasn't great. Our guys were tremendous against Alabama right out of the chute, and then the Texas game. I haven't rewatched it, but I'm going to wait and we'll rewatch the whole regular broadcast, not just our scouting report one, because it was an ESPN classic. I don't see how that one didn't help both teams in some way, shape or form, or at least I can say that it helped ours. Didn't go the way we wanted in game three, and then, you know, we go to the regional, but all those scenarios, whether they were positive or negative on the scoreboard, were great for our team. 'So, little more experience, little more maturity, and then I think as the years gone on, blame the coaches or me for taking too long, but I think it's been a year where you're kind of sorting out what do you want the lineup to be, where you want certain pitchers to go, and I think we have a better understanding of that now than maybe we did back then, or definitely prior to that.'
