Michigan State basketball listed in top 15 of latest CBS Sports' early preseason rankings
Michigan State basketball is a top 15 team at this point in the offseason, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports. There was plenty of buzz in the college basketball world on Tuesday, with numerous big-time players electing to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return for another year of college hoops. The Spartans haven't received any good news on that front (still holding onto a sliver of hope that Jase Richardson turns down the NBA to chase a National Championship next year), but Michigan State is still in Parrish's latest top 15. Advertisement Parrish has the Spartans at No. 15 in his latest rankings released on Tuesday. That is essentially where he's had Michigan State since the NCAA Tournament ended as well. Among their Big Ten peers, Michigan State is No. 4 on Parrish's list. He has the following teams ranked ahead of Michigan State from the Big Ten: Purdue (No. 4), Michigan (No. 8) and UCLA (No. 10). Parrish also included Oregon (No. 16), Illinois (No. 23), Wisconsin (No. 25) and Ohio State (No. 26) in his rankings. CBS Sports ranks Florida basketball after close of NCAA transfer portal entry
CBS Sports ranks Florida basketball after close of NCAA transfer portal entry The men's college basketball transfer portal was recently closed to new entrants, which takes us a step closer to knowing what the 2025-26 rosters will look like. But those who already submitted their names are still searching for greener pastures; meanwhile, those who have not appear to be content with their current surroundings. This break in the transfer portal action provides the sports media with an opportunity to reassess their way-too-early predictions for the college hoops rankings now that future projections are a bit more clear. Among those submitting their updates is CBS Sports' Gary Parrish, who recently published his top 25-and-1 rankings. According to the latest listing, the Florida Gators are projected to rank 15th in the nation based on recent signings — down one spot. "This ranking is based on the Gators returning five of the top 10 scorers — specifically Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh, Rueben Chinyelu, Urban Klavzar and Micah Handlogten — from a team that finished 36-4 and won the 2025 NCAA Tournament," Parrish offers. "That core will be joined by a recruiting class highlighted by Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee and four-star freshmen CJ Ingram and Alex Lloyd." Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has released his latest batch of way-too-early rankings, and the Spartans experienced a slight bump up the board. Parrish moved Michigan State up one spot to No. 14 in his latest rankings on CBS Sports. Advertisement Here's what Parrish had to say about the Spartans: "This ranking is based on the Spartans returning four of the top eight scorers -- specifically Coen Carr, Jaxon Kohler, Jeremy Fears and Carson Cooper -- from a team that finished 30-7 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. That core will be joined by a recruiting class highlighted by Samford transfer Trey Fort, FAU transfer Kaleb Glenn and four-star freshmen Cam Ward and Jordan Scott." Michigan State is one of seven teams from the Big Ten in Parrish's rankings. Joining Michigan State was Purdue (No. 2), Michigan (No. 7), UCLA (No. 8), Oregon (No. 16), Ohio State (No. 23) and Wisconsin (No. 24).
