Casting company searching for young Glasgow actors
Des Hamilton Casting is currently looking for young men aged 17-19 from Glasgow and the surrounding areas to star in a new series based on Graeme Armstrong's award-winning novel The Young Team. They said no acting experience is required for the paid role which is advertised on their website. The Young Team opens in 2004 and follows Azzy Williams from his mid-teens to this early 20s as he negotiates life in a gang. The BBC reported in March of this year they had commissioned a six-part drama series based on the book.

Miriam Margoyles speaks about dad's Glasgow upbringing
Margolyes, who is known for her work across film, stage and TV, spoke to the BBC about her father's childhood saying he grew up in a "slum" in the city. Speaking with a soft Glasgow accent, she said: "He was born in the Gorbals in 1899. "His father came over in something like 1870 but he was born in 1899 and he never stopped with the accent so I heard it from when I was a wee girl. "What do you call it? A wain." Margolyes went on to speak about how the Gorbals has changed, saying she wants the area to be "as it was". She said: "I think they've taken the heart out of it, I don't like it when things are renovated. "I want it to be as it was. I like the old, I always have its not just because I am old."
