Fundraiser honors fallen Gates Firefighter Joe Manuse
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A fundraiser was held Saturday afternoon to support the Joe Manuse Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Foundation. The foundation honors the life of fallen Gates Fire District Firefighter Joseph Manuse who died in September 2019. The benefit took place at First Responders Park in Rochester. His life work was to keep the community safe by raising awareness of the importance of having working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms because they save lives every day. Manuse believed 'no one should perish because they could not afford to purchase these devices.' The foundation was established October 16, 2019, and it makes sure that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are made available to all fire departments in Monroe and Ontario County. The project was established through monetary donations, discounts on alarms and alarm donations. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
