Tomorrowland festival will go ahead after fire destroyed stage
The main stage of the Tomorrowland music festival in Boom, Belgium, was destroyed by a fire earlier this week.
Organisers are now racing to rebuild the colossal 70-metre-wide, 8-metre-tall stage, with extensive resources deployed overnight.
Despite the damage, the festival, expecting over 400,000 attendees, will proceed, opening two hours later than planned today, 18 July.
If the main stage is not completed in time, the festival will open with reduced capacity on Friday, with main stage artists performing at the Gathering Stage, and full operations are expected by Saturday.
The cause of the fire, which saw flames and black smoke engulfing the stage and nearby woodland, is currently unconfirmed, though no members of the public were present at the time.
