Exciting DJ Lagway News Revealed on Thursday

Fans in Gainesville are well aware that they have a star on their hands in Florida quarterback DJ Lagway. The former five-star recruit and Gatorade National Player of the Year wasn't initially tabbed as the starter, but stepped up when veteran quarterback Graham Mertz went down with an injury. Lagway ended up leading the Gators to a 6-1 record despite being a bit banged up, and has fans hoping that he can end the program's past woes as they head into 2025. Advertisement While he was extremely limited in spring due to an upper and lower body injury, barring any major setbacks, Lagway should be ready to open the year. With there being around 100 days until the season, fans are looking for anything to get excited about, and on Thursday, they got just that. As shared by Billy Napier's brother, Kurt Napier, Lagway posed with Florida legend Tim Tebow during a photo shoot for the cover of EA Sports College Football 26. According to On3's Pete Nakos, Lagway is one of nine current athletes who will be on the cover of the next rendition of the game. Who is Paige Bueckers? Dallas Wings' new viral rookie secures her first WNBA bucket

Sensation rookie point guard Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 pick from the 2025 WNBA Draft out of the University of Connecticut, played her first regular season game with the Dallas Wings against the dominant Minnesota Lynx Friday night. Bueckers had no problem quickly earning her first points in her debut season as a Wings player with a pair of offensive rebounds turned into baskets. She looked comfortable finding teammates and grabbing boards. Local businesses jumped on board with the festivities: streets were temporarily renamed 'Bueckers Boulevard,' a local brewery launched a special beer in her honour, and restaurants got creative with Bueckers-inspired menu items — including a dedicated sushi roll and a personalised ice cream flavour. T 'Every business I can think of has something going on where they're trying to help celebrate, and it's just all about having fun,' said Patrick Hanlon, the mayor of Hopkins, per ESPN. 'We're proud to name our city after her for a day. And for the folks that know her and watched her grow up as she came up through the city as a team member, as a community member and as the champion that she is. We're just very proud of her.' 'I think it's just the fact that we are a small town,' Hanlon added. 'It's just that she's a real person and a real community member here.' Before becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she was a national high school sensation. At Hopkins High School, she led her team to a state championship in 2019 and earned the Gatorade National Player of the Year honour. Duke basketball signee Cameron Boozer joins LeBron James on esteemed list

Duke basketball signee Cameron Boozer joins LeBron James on esteemed list Duke Blue Devils basketball fans spent the last two years rooting for one of the most accomplished and anticipated prospects of the century thus far. Cooper Flagg looked like a lock for the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft even as a high-school senior, leading Montverde Academy to an undefeated season and a Chipotle Nationals title before winning the John R. Wooden Award as the nation's best college basketball player as a freshman. His replacement will bring an even more decorated resume to Durham. Cameron Boozer, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Florida, headlines the 2025 Duke basketball recruiting class, and he already can't fit all of his awards in a single trophy case. He helped Columbus High School match Flagg's Chipotle Nationals title, he was named co-MVP of the McDonald's All-American Game, and he was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a sophomore and as a senior. The accolade he earned this week might surpass all of those, however, since it places him in the same breath as NBA royalty. Boozer was named Mr. Basketball USA by on Monday, defeating Kansas commit Darryn Peterson and BYU commit AJ Dybantsa with eight first-place votes among 10 ballots to claim the award for the second time in three years. The last person to be named Mr. Basketball USA twice? Four-time NBA champion LeBron James, who won it in 2002 and 2003 before getting drafted with the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft straight out of high school. Boozer became the first sophomore to win the award in 2023, and he finished runner-up to Flagg in 2024, which eventually prevented the three-peat. "Yeah, it's crazy," Boozer said in a release announcing his award. "To be categorized with such a small group of guys who have won the award twice is an amazing feeling and hopefully I can do more winning at the next level and the one after that." MaxPreps credited Boozer with 22.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.5 blocks as a senior. He's third in the 247Sports' Class of 2025 rankings behind Peterson and Dybantsa.

Former Oklahoma Sooners QB impressing in spring football

Former Oklahoma Sooners starting quarterback Jackson Arnold didn't have the career anyone expected he'd carve out in Norman. Now, he's trying to rebound at Auburn, and he's impressed his new head coach in the process. After head coach Brent Venables hired Ben Arbuckle as the Sooners' new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach this winter, Arnold entered the transfer portal, hoping to get his career back on track with the Tigers. Advertisement So far this spring, it seems that Arnold could be well on his way to doing so. His new head coach, Hugh Freeze, has been impressed with the junior quarterback's performance in spring ball. Freeze appeared on "The Paul Finebaum Show" and praised Arnold's play. "He obviously has all the tools to be one of the top quarterbacks in the nation," Freeze said. "He's got the arm talent, he's got the legs, he's got the football IQ. I think he just needs confidence, and I think that confidence grew this spring, along with his rapport with our receivers." Confidence, along with turnovers, was one of the biggest things that seemed to hold Arnold back in Norman. At times, it seemed the pressure of being the starting quarterback at a place like Oklahoma got to him. His performances in winnable games against Tennessee and Missouri left Sooner Nation wanting more out of the position. Arnold, a former five-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, signed with OU out of Denton Guyer High School in Texas after winning the Elite 11 Finals and being named the Gatorade National Player of the Year for 2022. He sat behind Dillon Gabriel in 2023, before being handed the reins of the Sooners in 2024. He was expected to become the next great OU quarterback. Advertisement Instead, Arnold struggled mightily over just 10 career starts in crimson and cream, winning only five games. He was benched, re-inserted into the lineup, saw his offensive coordinator Seth Littrell get fired, and led Oklahoma to a dismal 6-7 record in Year 1 in the SEC. His team-leading passing yardage total was the lowest for an Oklahoma QB since 1998. But perhaps a change of scenery will be just what Arnold needs. The split between he and the Sooners was in no way contentious, but maybe both sides will benefit. Arnold gets a new start at Auburn, where he still has the opportunity to prove himself in the country's toughest conference. Meanwhile, Oklahoma upgraded in a big way under center with John Mateer, who Sooner fans hope truly is the next great OU quarterback.
