Holy Cash! This Rajasthan Man Turned Cow Urine Into A Rs 1 Crore Empire
Mangilal's plant turns 2,000 litres of cow urine into 1,500 litres of Gaudhan Ark daily. With over 20 litres litres made so far, his desi venture now earns over Rs 1 crore a year
In the dry, sun-scorched land of Rajasthan, where water is treasured like a rare gem, one man has turned an unlikely resource—cow urine—into a thriving business. Mangilal Bothra from Barmer has found success in producing Gaudhan Ark, a distilled Ayurvedic product made from cow urine collected from villages near the India-Pakistan border.
What began as a shift towards Swadeshi living has now grown into a crore-rupee enterprise with a national footprint.
Mangilal's journey began after locals criticised him for selling foreign-made electronic items in his showroom. The remark hit home, and he resolved to adopt Swadeshi (indigenous) practices. With determination and hard work, he started producing Gaudhan Ark, an Ayurvedic distillate made from cow urine. Today, his plant is churning out around 3.5 lakh litres every year.
Mangilal's plant has so far produced over 20 lakh litres of Gaudhan Ark. The demand for it is growing across India, and his annual turnover has now crossed Rs 1 crore. Every day, his plant converts about 2,000 litres of cow urine into nearly 1,500 litres of Gaudhan Ark.
Used by Ayurvedic Giants
Mangilal's venture has created jobs for over 300 people in Barmer. These workers help collect cow urine daily from cattle owners, who are paid Rs 4 per litre. This not only supports local employment but also benefits livestock rearers.
With growing demand even from international markets, Mangilal has proved that when the mindset is local and the intentions strong, even cow urine can become 'gold'.
