Turning back time
Trends are fleeting, but style is forever, a belief that has been driving horological innovations in recent times. A finely crafted watch stands as a quiet rebellion—an emblem of heritage, precision, and authenticity. More than a timekeeper, it's a story wrapped around your wrist. True watchmaking is not about mass production. It's about the patient art of craftsmanship. There has been a wave of luxury watchmakers taking inspiration from their past iconic bestsellers and reviving them. Gaurav Bhatia, co-founder of Art of Time, explains, 'We're seeing watch brands strip back the noise and go back to their DNA. And honestly, that's when watchmaking gets exciting.' Bhatia and Kapoor share that they have observed unique trends in this renewed appreciation for vintage and retro aesthetics. More buyers are opting for smaller dial sizes, echoing the elegance of mid-century classics. Cartier's Tank Guichet and Piaget's Polo Sixtie are examples of brands showing restraint and confidence. 'We're seeing strong momentum around heritage-inspired pieces with collectors gravitating toward designs that feel timeless yet completely relevant today,' says Art of Time co-founder Bharat Kapoor. Leading the way is the IWC Ingenieur 40 and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre.

Rahul Gandhi ‘certified anti-national', says BJP after Supreme Court pulls up Congress MP
The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, describing him as a "certified anti-national" after the Supreme Court reprimanded him over his remarks about the Indian Army. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said with the top court's observations, Rahul Gandhi's credibility has gone down to "zero".(PTI) The BJP alleged that Gandhi has vowed to "weaken India and strengthen China", claiming that the "China Guru" and his party "hate" the Indian armed forces. They demanded an apology from him and the Congress for his remarks. The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings against the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha before a Lucknow court for his remarks about the Army during his December 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, the top court bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih slammed Gandhi, saying that he would not say such a thing if he were a true Indian. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in a post on X that for the first time in India's parliamentary history, a Supreme Court had to make a "stern remark" against a Leader of the Opposition. "Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have a history of insulting the army, whether it is the surgical strike or Operation Sindoor. They have questioned the sacrifices of our brave soldiers at every opportunity," Pradhan said in a post on X. He said that the Congress' loyalty is not to the nation but only to one family, which is why respect for the nation is not even a part of their "fundamental thinking". "Today, the entire country is hurt by this anti-national mentality and expects an apology from Rahul Gandhi and the Congress," Pradhan added. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also cited the apex court's observations and alleged that Rahul Gandhi keeps making "immature, irresponsible and anti-India comments" even though various courts have rapped the Congress leader for such remarks in the past. "Today when the Supreme Court's comment has come, it won't be wrong to say that Rahul Gandhi has certainly vowed to weaken India and strengthen China," Bhatia said during a press conference. Rahul has 'Pakistan, China in his veins BJP IT head department Amit Malviya took to X to slam 'China Guru' Rahul Gandhi. He said, "The Supreme Court has once again reprimanded 'China Guru' Rahul Gandhi for making irresponsible statements concerning India's national security and territorial integrity." "Imagine, a leader of the opposition being repeatedly rebuked for speaking such recklessly," he added. "Rahul Gandhi is now a certified anti-national," Malviya charged in another post. During the press conference at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Bhatia also showed a purported picture of Rahul Gandhi signing some document in the presence of Sonia Gandhi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The BJP spokesperson claimed that the LoP signed a party-to-party memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Communist Party of China. "That's why Rahul Gandhi was saying that our soldiers were thrashed by Chinese soldiers, be it (in) Doklam or Galwan, while every Indian was standing by India and brave soldiers of India," he said. Bhatia added that they never tell the people of India what was in that MoU with the Communist Party of China. "It seems Rahul Gandhi has love for China and Pakistan in his veins, but no love for India," Bhatia added. The BJP spokesperson termed the Supreme Court's observations as "very serious" and said that with this, Gandhi's credibility has gone down to "zero". "Does India deserve a more responsible and a better Leader of Opposition (LoP)? As the LoP who has taken oath under the Constitution to protect the sovereignty of our country, is he destroying the sovereignty of our country? Is he helping nations that are inimical to our country? Is he demoralising the brave Indian armed forces?" he asked. Additionally, BJP leader Amit Malviya took on the Congress leader for his "dead" economy remark, calling it a "diplomatic disaster on multiple fronts". "His recent 'dead economy' jibe is just the latest in a long series. In doing so, he implicitly admitted that Russia, a long-standing ally, is struggling, while bizarrely endorsing a hostile state like Pakistan as having a robust economy," he said. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla referred to Gandhi's remarks on the surgical strike and Operation Sindoor, alleging that the Congress leader and his party "hate" Indian armed forces. In a post on X, he said, "Sena ka Apman Congress ki pehchan (Insulting the Army is the hallmark of the Congress). Rahul and Congress hate Indian Armed Forces. Today SC has slammed him." BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also said that the Supreme Court's condemnation of Gandhi exposed him. "Supreme Court asks Rahul Gandhi - 'How did you know that China had occupied land?'" he said. Bhandari said that this question did not "expose" Gandhi, but further got the attention back on the "secret MoU that Gandhi-Vadra family had with China". "Rahul is working under the remote control of foreign forces," he charged.

'Rahul Gandhi has always insulted OBC': BJP fires back after '2nd Ambedkar' remark; accuses Congress of mocking backward community
BJP's Gaurav Bhatia (Image credits: ANI) NEW DELHI: BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, accusing it of repeatedly insulting the other backward classes (OBC) community, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also belongs to the same category. He also branded Congress as the 'most corrupt party' for idealising leaders facing scam allegations. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Gaurav Bhatia said, "The most corrupt party held a conference on the OBC society yesterday. Rahul Gandhi himself has always insulted the OBC community and the Prime Minister, who comes from the OBC community. There are many serious charges against him, including corruption, and he is out on bail." The BJP leader also questioned Rahul Gandhi's endorsement of leaders like Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, both of whom he claimed are facing corruption allegations. "Rahul Gandhi said that your ideals are sitting here. According to Rahul Gandhi, that ideal is Siddaramaiah, who is accused of the Muda scam. Bhupesh Baghel and his son are accused of many scams... The government has resolved to make the country corruption-free, but Rahul Gandhi says that those who are corrupt have the qualities to become leaders," he added, as quoted by ANI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Struggling With Belly Fat? The event was inaugurated by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and concluded with Rahul Gandhi's keynote address. During the event, Kharge reiterated the Congress party's demand for a nationwide caste-based census and the removal of the 50 per cent cap on reservations. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of denying rights to backward communities and misleading the country. In his speech, Rahul Gandhi admitted that not conducting a caste census during the UPA government was a mistake and expressed his resolve to correct it. He said he had earlier failed to fully understand the issues faced by the OBC community, unlike those of Dalits, tribals, and women. "I think about my work, where I did well and where I fell short, and I see two to three things. Land Acquisition Bill, MNREGA, Right to Food, Tribal Bill, and Niyamgiri struggle- all these things I did well. As far as the issues of tribals, Dalits, and women are concerned, I should get good marks there. I did good work," he said, as quoted by ANI. Earlier in the day, Congress leader Udit Raj said that Rahul Gandhi will prove to be the "second Ambedkar" for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) if they listen to what he said during the Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan. Raj compared Rahul Gandhi to Babasaheb Ambedkar and said that the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) must support the statements made by the LoP. "Caste census in Telangana is an X-ray of society. Rahul Gandhi aims to replicate it nationwide. His views are visionary. If Dalits and backward classes come forward, our economy will boost. The inequality that prevails in society will be reduced. If OBC understands what Rahul Gandhi said, he will prove to be the second Ambedkar for them," Raj told ANI. "OBCs will have to think that history does not give opportunities for progress again and again. They should follow and support what Rahul Gandhi said in the Talkatora Stadium conference. If they do so, then Rahul Gandhi will prove to be the second Ambedkar for them," Raj posted on X. Responding to Udit Raj's remarks, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya accused Congress of hatching a conspiracy to diminish Ambedkar's legacy. "Congress is now worried about finding another Ambedkar. But the country knows how Congress betrayed Dr Ambedkar and repeatedly insulted him, which is recorded in history," he wrote on X. Malviya also took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and said he could "never become anything, except a historic failure." "The question is — why isn't Congress searching for another Nehru? Because this effort is a conspiracy to diminish Dr Ambedkar's legacy and greatness," Malviya wrote.

Supreme Court to hear plea for 'Udaipur Files' release 'in a day or two'
Supreme Court NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Monday told producers of the film 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder', screening of which has been stayed by Delhi high court , that it will hear its plea for release of the movie in the theatres "within a day or two". Senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia appealed to a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi for urgent hearing on the special leave petition by Meerut-based producer 'Jani Firefox Media' challenging the high court's July 10 order stalling release of the film despite the censor board clearing its screening with certain cuts. Bhatia said the high court order came on a petition by Maulana Arshad Madani, who claimed the film was an attempt to vilify an entire community, even though the storyline of the movie is based on a true incident of beheading of Kanhaiyalal by two Muslim men in June 2022 for sharing a post on Prophet Mohammad, and that the producers had carried out cuts suggested by CBFC. The high court had disposed of Madani's petition by permitting him to appeal against permission to release the film before Union government. It had said, "Since we are relegating the petitioner to remedy of revision under Section 6 of Cinematograph Act, we direct that till the application for interim relief, if made by the petitioner along with the revision petition under Section 6, is decided by central govt, release of the film shall remain stayed. " The film producer through advocate Pulkit Agarwal cited several SC judgements which had laid down the principle that a film cleared by censor board cannot be stalled from being screened in theatres unless there is an explicit violation which squarely fell within 'reasonable restrictions' on right to free speech specified under Article 19(2) of the Constitution.

"We have pleaded": Advocate Pulkit Agarwal on Supreme Court agrees to hear plea of 'Udaipur Files' release
New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea filed by the producers of the movie 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder' challenging the Delhi High Court's order that stayed its release. The plea was mentioned by Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia on behalf of the producer of the movie, who stated that the CBFC has already approved the said film and its non-release is violating his fundamental right. On the Supreme Court agreeing to hear the plea against the stay on the release of 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder', Advocate Pulkit Agarwal told the media, 'We have pleaded that the High Court's order, which has stayed the release of the movie, needs to be set aside. We have prayed to the Supreme Court to grant the release of this movie. Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia mentioned the matter on behalf of the producer. The court observed orally that the matter would be listed within 2-3 days...' The Delhi High Court recently stayed the release of the movie one day before its official release date. The Delhi High Court on Thursday, July 10, ordered a stay on the release of the film. The stay will remain in effect until the Central Government decides on the revision application filed by Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind against the certification granted by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). A Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Anish Dayal passed the interim order while hearing two petitions, one by Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind and another by journalist Prashant Tandon, challenging the CBFC's decision to grant certification to the film. The petitioners argued that the film's release could disturb communal harmony and pose a serious threat to public order, given the sensitive nature of the subject. The Court observed that since the petitioners had been relegated to invoke the revisional remedy under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, the release of the film must remain stayed until a decision is made on their application for interim relief. 'We provide that till the grant of interim relief is decided, there shall be a stay on the release of the film,' the bench stated. 'Udaipur Files' is based on the 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, who was brutally killed in broad daylight by two men allegedly angered by a social media post in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The incident had triggered national outrage and raised serious concerns about radicalisation and communal violence. The petitioners contended that the film sensationalises the incident and may further inflame tensions. They also raised concerns over the timing of the release, just ahead of upcoming elections in several states. The Court, while not going into the merits of the film itself, held that the legal procedure for challenging CBFC certification must be followed and ensured that no irreparable damage occurs in the interim.
