Shivangi Verma: I want to leave a sweet impact through roles that feel warm, real, and unforgettable

Actress Shivangi Verma, who has been part of shows like Choti Sarrdaarni, Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, and recently appeared in Badass Ravi Kumar, is carving her space with grace and clarity. As she gears up for her upcoming film Gaurishankar Gauharganj Wale, Shivangi opens up about what today's audiences want—and what she's chasing as an actor. 'I feel people now enjoy shows that feel close to real life,' she says. 'They like characters who go through things we all face. But at the same time, shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi bring comfort and nostalgia. So I think both formats can work—if the content brings something fresh.' Her own preference? Shivangi leans toward stories that leave a lasting emotional imprint. 'I would love to do a slice-of-life story or a light comedy. Something simple but meaningful, that feels warm and real.' While the rise of influencers in acting often sparks debate, she responds with calm confidence: 'Everyone has their own path. Influencers have their space, and actors have theirs. Acting is about emotion, timing, and presence. I focus on my craft, and I respect people who are trying to do something creative.' For Shivangi, choosing between a limited series and a daily soap isn't about the length—it's about the journey. 'A limited series is crisp and exciting. But a long-running show lets you grow with the character. I just look for roles that challenge me.' She believes Indian television is at a turning point. 'TV needs to take more risks. We often play it safe with the same kind of drama. I'd love to see more shows talking about mental health, women's independence, and personal journeys.' At the heart of it, Shivangi wants her characters to touch hearts: 'I want to do roles that leave a sweet impact on people's hearts—and stay with them long after the screen fades.'

Shivangi Verma on industry pressures and staying relevant: Beauty should not be a race

Actress Shivangi Verma, known for her work in Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, Choti Sarrdaarni, the film Badass Ravi Kumar, and her upcoming project Gaurishankar Gauharganj Wale, recently opened up about the struggles actors face in today's competitive entertainment world. In a candid conversation, she addressed the challenges of maintaining relevance and facing unrealistic beauty standards. 'Yes, staying relevant is honestly one of the biggest challenges,' Shivangi admitted. 'As actors, we are constantly working on ourselves—physically, mentally, emotionally. There's always someone new coming in, and you have to keep growing without losing your own identity.' Talking about the pressures of evolving beauty standards, she pointed out the constant changes that actors are expected to adapt to. 'One day the trend is sharp jawlines, next day it's curves, then it's glass skin. It never stops,' she explained. 'As actors, we are expected to look a certain way even when we are just being human. But beauty should not be a race. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. Trends will keep changing, but self-confidence is what should stay constant. ' When asked whether beauty standards have always overshadowed talent, she responded thoughtfully. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like La app de IA que está cambiando vidas — ¿por qué de repente está en todas partes? Even today it happens, but I'm glad people are slowly accepting different looks and real bodies. It's a slow change, but it makes me hopeful. Reflecting on social media's role, she said, 'People see your photos before they see your performance. Followers and looks often come before skill. But in the long run, only talent helps you stay.' On being typecast, Shivangi concluded firmly, 'I don't let assumptions define me—I let my work do that.'

Shivangi Verma clears the air on her link-up rumors with Govind Namdev

Mumbai: Rumour mills have been rife with reports of a possible link-up between actress Shivangi Verma and actor Govind Namdev, after a picture of them went viral. However, refuting the rumours as totally baseless, the actress said that the latter is like a father figure for her. Clearing the air, she shared, 'That's such baseless gossip. Govind ji is a very senior and respected actor, and I've always looked up to him. We shot 'Gaurishankar Gauharganj Wale' together, and those pictures are simply from our shoot days. People are just connecting the dots without knowing the truth. There's absolutely no truth to these link-up rumours." Shivangi hopes that people will confirm things before jumping to conclusions. 'Honestly, it's funny and upsetting both at the same time. I wish people would confirm facts before spreading anything. I'm here to do my work and focus on my craft. These kinds of stories just distract from the hard work we all put into our films. I hope people stop making assumptions.' She added, 'When you're in the public eye, even normal things can be blown out of proportion. But I've learned to stay calm and not let it affect me. I know who I am, and the people close to me know the truth. At the end of the day, I just want to grow as an actor and let my work speak for itself.' For the unversed, Shivangi uploaded a photo on her Instagram with Govind with the caption, "Love knows no age, no boundaries," giving rise to the speculations of the two being romantically involved. Back in December 2024, the 70-year-old actor revealed that he is co-starring on a project with Shivangi. He added that while their characters are romantically involved, things are not the same in real life. Govind penned a note on social media that read, "Ye Real Life Love nahi hai, Reel Life hai janaab! Ek film hai 'Gaurishankar Goharganj Wale' Jiski shooting hum Indore me kar rahe hain. Ye usi film ka story plot hai. Isme ek old man ko ek young actress se pyaar ho jata hai. Jahaan tak vyaktigat rup se mujhe kisi young-old se pyaar ho jaaye, ye iss janam me to sambhav hai nahi."
