Unbelievable! Pune-Bangalore highway blocked by five youths to shoot reel, booked
Highways often face traffic congestions. However, traffic was recently halted on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) because of five youngsters from Satara, who were busy making a reel featuring a new SUV. The five youngsters, including a minor have been booked by the police. The incident took place on July 10, causing traffic to come to a standstill for nearly 20 minutes, reported Punekar News. One of the five youngsters who have been booked — Om Jadhav, had just received his brand new SUV worth ₹ 20 lakh. On his way back from the showroom, Jadhav and his group of friends parked the newly purchased SUV on NH‑48 near the Bombay Restaurant bridge. They then recorded a video, allegedly using a drone without permission, and uploaded the footage on social media — all the while pausing traffic for nearly 20 minutes, as per Punekar News. The local video came to the attention of the police, who booked the group of five people. A FIR has been registered against Om Jadhav (21), Kushal Kadam (20), Soham Shinde (20), Nikhil Mahangade (27), and one unnamed minor. The police has asked Jadhav to record a video apologising for the incident. 'We reviewed the video, and identified the individuals involved. They were booked for causing an obstruction on a national highway and for unauthorised use of a drone,' Punekar News quoted Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mhaske as saying. Last month, three students from the Gautam Buddha University in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida were arrested for dragging a police barricade with their SUV. As per police officials, the group of three men were returning from a wedding, and were under the influence of alcohol. The video of the incident was all over on social media. The SUV in the video, a Mahindra Scorpio, was also seized after the incident.

Two GBU students among 3 held for dragging police barricade with SUVin Noida
Noida: Three men were arrested after a video showing an SUV dragging a police barricade went viral on social media. The video, which also appeared to show a pistol on the rear seat, was later traced back to Feb. Two of the accused are students of Gautam Buddha University. The arrested persons — Nishant Pandit, his brother Sourabh Pandit, and their friend Aryakeet — are residents of Ecotech 3. Dankaur police took them into custody on Monday from the Jaypee Sports City main road. The SUV used in the video, a Mahindra Scorpio registered in Sourabh's name, has also been seized. The video surfaced online on Saturday evening and came to police attention through X (formerly Twitter). It showed a speeding SUV with an occupant in the backseat pushing the boot open with his leg, causing a police barricade to be dragged for about 200 metres by the rear wheel. A pistol-like object was seen on the rear seat, while another person was driving the vehicle. The pinned location suggested it was shot near Galgotias University. "As the location was pinned as Galgotias University, the investigation was handed over to the Dankaur police team," a senior officer told TOI. "We arrested them on Monday. The video was found to be from Feb." Police said Nishant was driving the car at the time, while Aryakeet was seated beside him. Although the video showed what looked like a firearm, officials confirmed it was a cigarette lighter designed like a pistol. According to the investigation, the trio was returning from a wedding under the influence of alcohol when they came across the barricade under Eastern Peripheral Expressway. "They dragged the barricade deliberately to shoot a reel and share it with their friends to show off. It was done purely for fun and social media attention," the officer said. Further investigation is underway, cops said.

Survey to check impact of land acquisition for Noida airport phase 3 & 4
NOIDA : A door-to-door survey from Monday will study the impact on landholdings, livelihoods, homes, public utilities and community resources in 14 villages from where land will be acquired for the expansion of Noida International Airport in phases 3 and 4. Two runways and a global aerospace manufacturing hub are proposed on 2,053 hectares—of which 1,857 hectares are privately owned and will be acquired from 14 villages—in two of the four-phase development of the airport. A runway, a terminal building and an air traffic control tower are coming up on 1,334 hectares acquired in phase 1, while MRO and aviation hubs are proposed on the 1,365 hectares acquired in phase 2. A social impact assessment (SIA) undertaken by Gautam Buddha University and approved by the state govt in Jan had found around 8,400 families across 14 villages—Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, Kishorepur, Banwaribas, Parohi, Muqimpur Shivara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmedpur Chaurauli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur, and Rohi—in Jewar tehsil would be displaced in the last two phases. The latest survey, to be undertaken by 49 teams, comprising officials from district administration and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, will draw up census and statistical data of families affected by the land acquisition. DM Manish Verma said the survey will be carried out under Section 16 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, and completed by June 15. SDM Jewar Abhay Singh told TOI that based on the survey, a draft rehabilitation and resettlement scheme will be drawn up. "This will outline entitlements for both landowners and landless families. It will also list the resettlement provisions in terms of infrastructure and amenities. A draft will then be published and a public hearing held to gather objections or suggestions," he added. The draft, along with a report on the objections, will be submitted to the district collector, and subsequently to the commissioner, for approval. "Once approved, a final scheme will be published and a formal declaration of the resettlement area announced. If not already done, a detailed land survey will be initiated to mark and measure the required land and prepare its layout. The award for land acquisition will be made within 12 months of the declaration. The collector will determine the market value of the land and calculate the compensation. A solatium, which is an additional 100% of the compensation, will be added as mandated. The final land acquisition will then proceed through an agreement between the landowners and the state," Singh said. In March, UP announced that landlosers will be entitled to Rs 4,300 per square metre in compensation, which is 40% higher than the Rs 3,100 per sqm offered in the second phase. In phase 1, UP offered Rs 2,100 per sqm in compensation. A notification issued by the civil aviation department recently stated that under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, displaced families will be rehabilitated to areas equipped with basic amenities like roads, water, electricity, sewerage, parks, community halls, schools, hospitals, as well as religious places, like temples and mosques, as per their social and cultural background.

Uttar Pradesh government signs MoU with Australia's Monash University
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the Uttar Pradesh government sees education not just as a way to obtain degrees, but as a key driver of the state's overall development. The chief minister made the remark even as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and Australia's Monash University in his presence. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a 'capital of knowledge' on the global education map. The MoU marks a significant step towards global academic integration, a press statement issued by the state government said. The agreement aims to provide students and faculty members from basic, secondary, and higher education institutions across the state with a global platform for research, innovation, training and technical collaboration. 'This partnership will incorporate quality, innovation and global perspective in the education system of the state and will prove helpful in preparing the youth for global competition,' the chief minister added. Calling the MoU in line with the spirit of the National Education Policy 2020, he said it would promote multi-dimensional learning, skill development and international cooperation. Referring to the state's earlier collaboration with the Western Sydney University, the chief minister said the new tie-up with Monash University is another major step toward meeting global education standards. He added that Gautam Buddha University will serve as the central hub for implementing this partnership and directed its vice chancellor to ensure successful discharge of this responsibility. Yogi also highlighted India's ancient tradition of knowledge, recalling the Vedic saying, 'Aa no bhadra kratavo yantu vishwatah' (let noble thoughts come to us from all directions of the world.) He described the MoU as a modern expression of this timeless vision. 'Such partnerships will give the state a leading position on the global education map,' he added.
