Pankhuri Awasthy on returning to TV with Dhakkad Beera: Acting is the missing piece in my life

Pankhuri Awasthi Rode Two years after Maddam Sir , Pankhuri Awasthy Rode is set to return to television with Yash Patnaik's Dhakkad Beera, in which she will be seen in a powerful cameo. The actress, who welcomed twins — a boy and a girl — in July 2023, says she's gradually easing back into work. She says, 'I'm just taking baby steps toward returning. A short-term character felt like the right place to start, especially to gauge how well I can balance everything. But I wouldn't have taken it up if the role wasn't strong and performance-driven.' She admits dealing with 'mom guilt' has been one of the toughest parts of resuming work. She shares, 'It's something I go through all the time. As exciting as it is to get back, my kids are always at the centre of every decision. I'm constantly torn between motherhood and acting. But I believe it's about good management. Modern mothers are the busiest and most anxious because we want to do it all.' She adds, 'Initially, I thought of taking my kids with me for the outdoor schedule in Patiala, but I knew managing them along with shooting would be overwhelming. So, I flew my mother in from Lucknow and had my mother-in-law step in too. I have a strong support system, and with two kids, you really need that army. It did hurt to leave them behind, but being back on set made me feel like myself again.' Pankhuri with her husband, actor Gautam Rode, and their twins Pankhuri credits husband, actor Gautam Rode , for helping her find balance. She says, 'What is marriage if not about leaning on each other? While we talk about independence, the idea of marriage is to have someone to fall back on. Gautam understands my passion for acting. We've talked about whether I should take a longer break, but he knows I can't. He's a 10/10 partner.' Now open to a full-fledged role, she says, 'Acting is the missing piece of the puzzle in my life. I've started to miss it deeply. Yes, I'm nervous about leaving the kids behind, but I'm not the first working mother . If push comes to shove, I'll figure out a way — they'll either be with me or I'll have my support system look after them.'

Indraneil Sengupta recalls getting locked for a film with Gautam Rode; says ‘We were invested so much but later it came out with bigger stars and named Dus'

Actor Indraneil Sengupta recently shared an emotional story from the early days of his career in a candid vlog conversation with actress Sanghamitra Hitaishi. Reflecting on a missed opportunity that left a lasting impact, he recalled how he and fellow actors Gautam Rode and Muzammil Ibrahim were once locked for a major film that was later made with bigger stars — the 2005 action thriller Dus. Back when Indraneil was still working as a model, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha had cast the trio for an ambitious project titled Nasha. He said, 'I had tears in my eyes for a professional thing that didn't happen. I used to do modelling back then. Anubhav Sinha was making a film. Three youngsters were taken. I was there, Gautam Rode was there, he is very popular on TV and Muzammil Ibrahim was there. He is also a good looking model. We three were signed for a 3 or 5 years contract. We felt very good about ourselves that we have finally cracked it… now we are in the big game. It was an action film. I couldn't swim so I used to go to Anubhav Sinha's flat to practice swimming and also go for action classes. We started working out more, taking protein powders and all. We were invested towards that film. Gautam was very sincere. He used to call us home to practice old movie scenes. Muzammil and I were models, we didn't want to do that but he would force us to come and all.' He then added, 'Then things were not moving for a few months. We kept calling Anubhav bhaiya that what's happening. He said there's a delay. At one point, he told us, 'You can release your dates and take up other work because I don't think it is happening.' It didn't happen, it changed hands, and then it was made with bigger stars. That film was Dus. It was called Nasha, back then. I had cried my heart out and I felt my entire world has come crashing down. '
