Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah extend condolences to Abang Johari on wife's passing
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, have extended their condolences to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg over the passing of his wife. It was reported that Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang passed away at 3.34am today. "Azizah and I are saddened to receive news of the passing of Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang earlier this morning. "Our thoughts are with the late Puan Sri's family, especially Abang Jo (Abang Johari), whom I met just yesterday. "May he remain patient and strong during this difficult time," Anwar said in a Facebook post this morning. Last night, Anwar was in Sarawak to attend the Gawak Dayak celebration dinner in Kuching. Earlier today, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol confirmed that Juma'ani has died. She was 76. Juma'ani was the daughter of Sarawak's second Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman. She leaves behind a son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and a daughter, Dayang Norjihan, 43.

Pahang Ruler, Tengku Ampuan extend greetings for Gawai Dayak, Kaamatan
KUANTAN: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have extended their heartfelt greetings to the people of Sabah and Sarawak in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak and Kaamatan Festival celebrations. In a post on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page Saturday (May 31), Their Royal Highnesses said the Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Dayak symbolise the rich cultural heritage and a spirit of gratitude for a bountiful harvest. "The celebrations reflect the high value placed on unity and harmony among the diverse communities in the country," the post read. Their Royal Highnesses added that the festivals represent efforts to preserve and uphold ancestral customs and traditions that form part of the nation's invaluable heritage. "The spirit of cooperation, unity and mutual respect that is evident during these celebrations should serve as an example to all Malaysians in strengthening national unity and harmony. "May this year's Kaamatan and Gawak Dayak festivals be celebrated with joy, while still upholding the values of moderation and safety. Let us all pray for continued peace, prosperity and well-being for our nation," it said. - Bernama
