Tibetans in Mysuru demand release of Panchen Lama

They stated that May 17, 2025, marks the 30th anniversary of the abduction and disappearance of the Panchen Lama. The protesters said they are extremely concerned about his health and religious education, as the Panchen Lama plays a very important role in the Tibetan religious hierarchy.
The protest was organised by the Middleway
, Regional Tibetan Women's Association, Mysuru, Tibetan Students Association of Bylakuppe, Hunsur, and Kollegala.
According to the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy, there are more than 2,500 political prisoners in Tibet and China. They sought Chinese govt to release the Panchen Lama and other political prisoners. Tibetans from Tibetan settlements in Gurupura near Hunsur and Odeyarapalya near Kollegala in Chamarajanagar district also took part in the agitation.
