Wildflower season officially kicks off at West Coast National Park
South African National Parks (SANParks) has officially announced the start of the 2025 wildflower season at West Coast National Park (WCNP).
From 1 August to 30 September 2025, the Postberg section of the park will be open to the public, offering a rare opportunity to experience one of South Africa's most spectacular natural events.
According to the parks body, the wildflowers traditionally peak between mid-August and mid-September and visitors to West Coast National Park are encouraged to plan their trips for sunny days and weekdays to avoid heavy traffic at the gates and to see the blooms at their best.
Here's what you need to know when visiting West Coast National Park this year:
Gate times Postberg Section: 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30)

SANParks revealed that the Geelbek Restaurant is also currently undergoing maintenance, and to ensure that visitors still have access to food and refreshments during wildflower season, food trucks will be stationed at the Geelbek precinct, Tsaarsbank, and Preekstoel areas of the park.
