R Ashwin Spoke To 'Big Cricketer' During Lord's Test, Both Felt Ravindra Jadeja Should've...

Former Indian cricket team spinner R Ashwin revealed his conversation with 'a big cricketer' regarding the Shubman Gill -led side's narrow loss against England on Sunday. Chasing 193, the India top-order struggled massively and although Ravindra Jadeja did slam a gritty half-century, the visitors fell 22 runs short of the target. Ashwin said that Jadeja should have taken a bit more risk when it comes to the run chase but praised him for his stunning effort that showed batters can play Test cricket with patience. "I was messaging a big cricketer throughout the match. I won't take his name, but both of us were discussing the match. Both of us felt that Jadeja should have probably taken a little more risk, but not a lot. The way he played, hats off! Jaddu showed an entire generation of Gen Bold that you can play with patience and skin the Test game," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. Ashwin further said that both Jadeja and Siraj should have targeted Shoaib Bashir rather than constantly defending the deliveries. Both batters tried to play out the balls but Ashwin believed that a slightly more aggressive approach could have helped them to relieving the pressure. "He could have picked one moment with Siraj and asked him to go after Bashir because Siraj can hit a clean ball. He can hit a spinner to the leg side with the slope," Ashwin said. Legendary India skipper Anil Kumble also echoed similar sentiments as Ashwin. "I was just reminded of one Test match where I lost by 12 runs against Pakistan in Chennai. It (Siraj's dismissal) was a similar kind of dismissal. Just 22 runs. Jadeja left stranded. I mean, he planned to get India this close to winning. But England just stuck to their task," Kumble, who was a part of that line-up in Chennai, said on 'JioHotstar'.

Mohammed Siraj On Why He Didn't Celebrate Rohit Sharma's Wicket: 'Have A Lot...'

Last Updated: GT pacer Mohammed Siraj has revealed why he didn't celebrate Rohit Sharma's wicket during their IPL 2025 match. Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Siraj has revealed he refrained from celebrating Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma's wicket during their match earlier in IPL 2025 out of 'respect'. GT and MI played against each other twice this season. In the first encounter, early in the season, Rohit faced Siraj in the first over. The Mumbaikar hit the pacer for two boundaries against in-swingers that were loose and too much on the leg-side. But Siraj came back with a brilliant scrambled-seam ball on a length outside off that cut back sharply to clean-bowl him on the next. Instead of his trademark Ronaldo Sui celebration, Siraj just happlily with his arms wide, pointed to himself and then did a 'calm-down' gesture, as if saying he didn't want to celebrate. 'My first match didn't go well — it was a high-intensity game after a long break. But I learned from it and focused on my bowling. Against Rohit bhai, I tried swinging the ball twice, but it didn't work. Then I stuck to my plan and got the wicket. I have a lot of respect for him, which is why I didn't celebrate much," Siraj said on JioHotstar's Gen Bold special, as quoted by IANS. The battle was hyped up in the media beforehand for Siraj had only recently missed out on India's Rohit-led Champions Trophy squad. The skipper mentioned in his press conference that India didn't trust Siraj past the powerplay overs — which didn't help the Hyderabadi quick. 'My plan was to stay in the present," he said. The Champions Trophy selection was very important to me, but I told myself it's not over yet. ICC events mean a lot to any player — but I knew I had to focus on my skills and fitness. I had to enjoy my bowling again. Now, I feel confident and I'm enjoying it a lot," he added. Siraj and Rohit will go against each other again on Friday as MI takes on GT in the Eliminator of IPL 2025. Ahead of the crucial game, Siraj spoke about his best moment of the season — a spell of 4/17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at his home ground, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. 'The most memorable moment was having my family in the stadium. Performing in front of them gives me a lot of confidence. My parents supported me so much and worked really hard — we've seen tough times. But when their son performs in front of thousands, they feel proud. I felt amazing knowing they were there — it's a different feeling, hard to describe, but I really enjoyed that moment. Even though I was technically a visiting player, it felt like bowling at home. That made it even more special," the pacer said. First Published:

Mohammed Siraj's Heartwarming Answer On Not Celebrating Rohit Sharma's Wicket: "Lot Of..."

Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj opened up about bowling to Rohit Sharma and the muted celebration that followed after he clean bowled the former Indian captain in his second match of the IPL 2025. Now donning the Gujarat Titans jersey after years of service at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Siraj has quietly but strongly scripted one of the most inspiring comebacks of the season. Bowling to Rohit in the ninth match of the ongoing IPL, Siraj got hit for a boundary but came back sharply with a perfect inswinger to knock back the stumps. Speaking on JioHotstar's Gen Bold special, he said, "My first match didn't go well — it was a high-intensity game after a long break. But I learned from it and focused on my bowling. Against Rohit bhai, I tried swinging the ball twice, but it didn't work. Then I stuck to my plan and got the wicket. I have a lot of respect for him, which is why I didn't celebrate much." Siraj also reflected on the time he was left out of India's squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy. That moment, he said, pushed him to focus on himself and his skills. 'My plan was to stay in the present. The Champions Trophy selection was very important to me, but I told myself it's not over yet. ICC events mean a lot to any player — but I knew I had to focus on my skills and fitness. I had to enjoy my bowling again. Now, I feel confident and I'm enjoying it a lot.' There were more emotions for Siraj when he played against his former team RCB and met his former captain Virat Kohli on the field. 'I have played with RCB for seven years, so I know the team well. I was a bit emotional during that moment. But after that, you saw what happened.' Against RCB, Siraj bowled a fiery spell and finished with figures of 3 for 19 in four overs. He picked up key wickets in the powerplay and was later named Player of the Match. The highlight of the night was playing in front of his family in Hyderabad. Siraj said it was one of the most special moments of his career. "The most memorable moment was having my family in the stadium. Listen to the latest songs, only on

IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans might be the first team to secure a top-two spot, says Manjrekar

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar backed table toppers Gujarat Titans to finish in the top-two spot of the IPL 2025 standings. Currently, Gujarat Titans are placed at the top spot with 18 points in 13 matches while Punjab Kings (17 points), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (17 points) and Mumbai Indians (16 points) sit at second, third and fourth respectively. All four teams have already secured playoffs berth and are fighting for the top-two spot. With only one game remaining against Chennai Super Kings, GT have to win the clash to confirm the top spot. "I think Gujarat Titans might be the first team to secure a top-two spot. They've only dropped one game, which could be just what they need to recharge and come back stronger in the next match," Manjrekar said on JioHotstar. RCB and PBKS lost their penultimate games to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals respectively to dent their top-two finish hopes. Manjrekar hailed Sameer Rizvi's mature knock under pressure for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings. 'He's coming of age, like many young Indian players this season. It hasn't been about the big names — this IPL has belonged to the younger lot. What stood out in this innings was how he dominated spin and found ways to score against quality bowlers like Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh. And this was a proper chase — there wasn't any advantage from dew, which can sometimes make it feel like you're already 20 runs ahead. That wasn't the case, and if not for Rizvi, I don't think Delhi Capitals would've pulled it off.' Manjrekar observed how IPL 2025 has been defined by Gen Bold players and lauded youngsters like Priyansh Arya and Vaibhav Suryavanshi for their breakout season. "The big takeaway for me this IPL is the emergence of lesser-known players making a huge impact — names like Sameer Rizvi, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Naman Dhir, Priyansh Arya, and Prabhsimran Singh. There's even a 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the mix. It's been their IPL, more than the big iconic names. Those stars are fading, and these young players are taking centre stage — that's been the story so far.

We like to outsmart the opponent: Gill

New Delhi: Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill revealed that the 'skill of outsmarting the opposition' is what makes his batting partnership with Sai Sudharsan so effective. He added that 'reading conditions and assessing the situation' is why his side's tactical awareness remains key to their success in the IPL 2025. As an opening pair in IPL 2025, Sudharsan and Gill have amassed 839 runs, at an average of 76.27, with seven 50-plus stands - three of them going past the 100-mark. The duo stitched the highest partnership for Gujarat Titans in T20s with their unbeaten 205-run first-wicket stand at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday as GT booked their spot in the playoffs with a 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals. 'I think the way we bat is not exactly similar, but the left-right combination helps. We both run very well between the wickets, and we're the kind of players who like to outsmart the opponent - including the bowlers,' Gill said on the episode of JioHotstar's Gen Bold.
