Peoria Airport warns summer travelers of parking difficulties
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — With the weather warming up and people itching to go on vacation, travelers are being reminded about parking at the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. A post on the airport's Facebook page says parking will be back in high demand this Summer and gives the following tips for parking. Memorial Day travel expected to break 20-year record Arive EARLY – 2 hours is suggested Be prepared to look for a spot we have installed a sign as you enter that will tell you which lot is open! (Check Byerly and Overflow South First) Or, if we are full, watch for our team or shuttle to assist. Still unsure? Call our operations department about where to park. 309-697-8272, ext. 110. Or, AVOID IT ALL AND CATCH A RIDE! Get dropped off or take a ride-share or cab and skip the whole parking dilemma! Veterans return after 34th Greater Peoria Honor Flight
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Several veterans from central Illinois were in the nation's capital as part of the 34th Greater Peoria Honor Flight. Veterans and their guardians took off from the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport earlier Tuesday morning. The group spent the day traveling around Washington, DC and visiting war memorials and monuments. Their flight returned shortly before 10 p.m. and veterans on the flight were welcomed home to the cheers of friends and family members. This is the second of four flights happening this year.
