'General Hospital' Fans Brace For 'Port Charles Logic' Amid 'Played Out' Storyline originally appeared on Parade. General Hospital is once again entering a take-down Sonny (Maurice Benard) era on the show. It's been a minute since Sonny has had this many people in Port Charles coming for him. However, that has changed as the list of those who are determined to demolish Sonny grows every day—Sidwell (Carlo Rota), ADA Turner (NazneenContractor), Tracy (Jane Elliot), Drew (Cameron Mathison), and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) are at the top of the Lulu (Alexa Havins) pressured Laura (Genie Francis) to distance herself from the mob boss. Soap Twitter has been on fire the past few days as the Sonny take down storyline heats up. 'Oh look another blame/attack Sonny story. How original 😒 #gh,' said a fan. 'Not another 'let's take Sonny down' story... Can we not come up with something better?! #GH That's so played out,' one fan expressed. A different fan reshared that X writing, 'Rinse. Wash. Repeat.😑 There has to be other storylines other than the town takes down Sonny. Give us some Grey's Anatomy type of drama. #GH #GeneralHospital.' Another fan stated, 'When can we let the whole 'Sonny is responsible for every bad thing' go? It's old AND tired #GH.' One fan declared, 'Are we srsly doing the everybody hates Sonny train again 🙄 #GH No amount of deflecting is going to change our minds. Drew still needs to die 😂😂.' "#GH I hate how it's another mob 'down with Sonny' story when this show is so much better when it's family centric than mob centric. I also hate when it's corinthos centric without Michael. This show's not the same without Michael being on,' insisted a fan. A fan wrote, 'I am convinced PCPD is only operational to take down Sonny. I am tired of this dead a$$ SL that keeps repeating itself.' Another fan said, 'Port Charles logic Sonny is bad but Jason is good despite both killing people for a living #GH.' There was a General Hospital fan who had a different take on the repeat storyline. 'Feels like if we're going to do the whole 'Take Down Sonny' storyline again, it's come to the point where Sonny actually needs to go. #GH,' wrote the fan. Beloved 'General Hospital' Matriach Denise Alexander Dies at 85
Denise Alexander, beloved star of General Hospital, died at the age of 85. Denise Alexander, who played Lesley Webber on General Hospital, has died at the age of 85. She was born on November 11, 1939, in New York City and began acting as a child. She appeared as Perry Como's daughter in 1949's Perry Como's Chesterfield Supper Club and had roles on many other series in the 50s and 60s, including The Twilight Zone, Father KnowsBest, and The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis. Her first role on soaps was as Lois Adams on The Clear Horizon. In 1966, she landed the role of Susan Hunter Martin on Days of our Lives while a student at UCLA. In 1973, General Hospital snagged her away from Days when they outbid them during her contract negotiations with the show. When they hired her, GH didn't have a role ready, but quickly created one for her. The role was Lesley Webber, and it garnered her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1976. Alexander played an integral role in saving GH when it was on the brink of cancellation in the late 70's, along with her TV daughter Genie Francis, who plays Laura Webber, of Luke & Laura fame, and the rest of the contract cast. Lesley Webber was killed off in 1984, but in true soap opera fashion was resurrected in 1996. Alexander reccured as Lesley until 2009 and then made sporadic visits to the show over the next decade. Her last appearance was in 2021. Genie Francis spoke to TV Insider about Alexander, saying, "I loved her. She loved me. I stole her good stuff. When I look at myself sometimes on television, which I don't do often because I don't really like to watch myself, but I have seen myself do stuff and been kind of taken aback because I realized I just did Denise. So when I say I stole her good stuff, I'm saying I was so young, she imprinted on me. And some of my acting, some of my style of acting, was directly imprinted on me by Denise Alexander. And she was very, very good to me as I was growing up.' She went on to share, "She actually gave me this lovely necklace. It's like a little angel that's standing on a cloud, and it's on a pearl. It was a charm, and I wore it all the time. And then when my daughter wanted to become an actress when she was young, I said, 'You've got to have your good luck charm.' So I said, 'I'm going to give you this little angel that's been worn by two actresses, and now it's yours.' And so Eliza (Frakes, Francis's daughter) has that, and it's important to her too. And when I told Denise that, she cried. She was so excited to hear that what she had given me, I gave to my daughter.' Alexander died March 5, 2025. No details about the cause of death have been released. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Colla, and is survived by her stepdaughter from that marriage, Elizabeth Colla.

Denise Alexander, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives Vet, Dead at 85
Soap veteran Denise Alexander, who played Laura's mother Lesley on General Hospital along with a lengthy stint on Days of Our Lives, has passed away at the age of 85, according to Soap Opera Digest. Alexander first gained fame when she joined the cast of NBC's Days of Our Lives in 1966 as Susan Martin. (She also married her Days co-star Richard Colla, with the two remaining together until Colla's death in 2021.) Alexander stayed on Days until 1973, when she shocked the soap world by hopping over to ABC's General Hospital. Alexander's Lesley was the driving force behind many of GH's major plotlines in the 1970s, and Alexander earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for best actress in a daytime drama in 1976. Lesley was killed off in a car crash in 1984, and Alexander took a role on the NBC soap Another World, but she returned to GH as Lesley in 1996, mysteriously resurrected. She continued on General Hospital off and on until 2009, popping back in for special episodes every few years after that. Her last appearance on the show was in 2021. Francis credits Alexander with helping her develop as an actor, she tells TV Insider: 'I loved her. She loved me. I stole her good stuff.
