South Londoner who kidnapped woman in 'callous' attack dies in prison after vaping synthetic drug
A man who taped up a woman, bundled her into a car boot, then hit her with a dog chain, has died in prison after vaping synthetic drugs. George Emmett, 25, was found collapsed in his cell at HMP Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire in May 2023, having returned to prison on license for knife possession following his release from a five year stretch for kidnapping a woman in Kent in 2016.
A Prison and Probation Ombudsman report details how Emmet died at a time when psychoactive substance use was rife in the prison, causing the death of another prisoner just 10 days before. Emmett had a history of cannabis misuse and was trying to quit, however an investigation found traces of synthetic cannabis in his vape and the pathologist concluded he probably died from drug use.
Emmett, then aged 18, took part in a brutal attack on a woman, using baseball bat, knuckleduster, and her own dog chain. The court heard the victim met Emmett in Chatham over a £2,000 debt, but when she arrived two men, Kaswayne Williams, from Peckham, and female Sheneqwa Delpratt, from Walworth, rolled up in a black Ford Focus and wrestled her into the car, reports News Shopper.

Emmett, of Lakeside Close in Sidcup, helped tie her hands with duct tape, then after driving to a new location beat the woman with his fists and the dog chain. At Burgess Park in Southwark, Williams threatened the woman with a firearm. The victim was then dragged out of the car and beaten with a metal baseball bat - a sock stuff inside her mouth ensured no one could hear her scream.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Matthew Lincoln called it 'quite possibly the most callous acts of violence I have ever investigated in 15 years as a police officer', while also highlighting Emmett's lack of empathy.
The Ombudsman found the substance misuse care offered to Emmett was 'insufficient', but made no recommendations for improvement to the prison. They also noted Emmett was the fourth inmate to die at the prison since May 2020, and that by May 2024 there had been one further death that is still under investigation.
