Think again, because with a little creativity, your kitchen leftovers could become your next favourite cocktail. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up Here's some ideas . . . EGG 'N' SIPS: Leftover egg whites are a great addition to cocktails. Whisk them up and try them as a topping to gin fizz or sours for a velvet texture. Aquafaba (chickpea water) also works just as well. GIN WIN: If you have a few peaches or plums that are too ripe, give them a new life by infusing them in alcohol which takes on subtle flavours easily. Cut up the fruit and add to a jar with your spirit, such as gin or vodka, for a hint of sweetness in your next drink. A-PEELING DRINK: Apple peels and pear cores need not be wasted. Save your peels in a tub and keep them in the fridge to use as garnishes for cocktails. For added flare, gently use a lighter on a peeling and twist it — this should stay in place and it's what top mixologists use to top fancy cocktails. Carrot or beetroot peels also make vibrantly coloured syrups which are great for adding to cocktails. BERRY NICE: Use up the last of those blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to make a fruity syrup you can use in spritzes or to flavour sparkling water. The Emily in Paris cocktail Add berries to a pan of water with a few teaspoons of sugar. Simmer for five minutes and leave to cool before pouring into a jar to use for your next cocktails. CUP OF JOY: Used coffee grounds have so many uses but did you know you can infuse spirits or make coffee liqueur with them? Put the coffee in a jar and add around four tablespoons of sugar and a cinnamon stick, a vanilla bean pod or dash of vanilla essence. Leave overnight and add boiling water to the jar, strain the mixture through coffee filter paper and add a double shot of rum. Leave to cool and then store in the fridge. It's perfect for espresso martinis. 7 With a little creativity, your kitchen leftovers could become your next favourite cocktail Credit: Getty All prices on page correct at time of going to press. Curry's is currently selling a George Foreman charcoal BBQ for the same price, which is a good high-quality option, perfect for those looking for home delivery, as Lidl only offers in-store purchase. Argos also has a gas burner BBQ listed slightly cheaper for £145. These are great alternatives, especially when you consider some models on the market cost a small fortune. There are plenty of comparison websites out there that'll check prices for you - so don't be left paying more than you have to. Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers. Here are some that we recommend: Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results. Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock. Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one. CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of. There's even a burger and meat press to help make sure your patties are up to par. Whether you're going all-in with a new grill or just need to restock your utensils, the Grillmeister range looks set to fly off shelves just in time for Father's Day and the May bank holiday. Remember, Lidl does not offer home delivery options so you'll have to visit your nearest store to check out the new range. Its worth calling ahead to make sure the items you're after are in stock before making a trip. 30 No-Fail Father's Day Gifts From Walmart

A George Foreman grill because your dad loves a perfect grilled not all the work that goes into cooking a perfect grilled cheese. (Who does?) This compact grill has everything your pops needs to quickly and easily cook his faves — dishwasher-safe removable plates, and an adjustable surface that can be tilted at an angle when cooking burgers or other foods to help drain excess grease. Promising review: 'I cooked my chicken tenders and shrimp on here last night, and I finally tasted that grill taste I miss. The items take less than five minutes to cook, and the cleaning process is simple. Totally in love." —KimaniPrice: $35.88 A four-person Coleman tent so the whole fam can finally go on that group camping trip that Dad's been talking about for years. It can be set up in 15 minutes, and it's fully waterproofed, in case your family fishing trip ends up turning into a family-getting-rained-on trip. Promising review: "This is a terrific tent. I looked at other brands up to $1,000. Was a snap to assemble. Pretty color, could even put it back in its bag after a couple of nights. Held up when windy, and best of all, Walmart delivered it to my home in less than 24 hours!! Totally satisfied. Yay!"—MrPjammaPrice: $69 A Shark robot vacuum and mop, because is there a better gift you can give your dad than no longer having to mop, sweep, or dust the floor? It also picks up pet hair, and he can use the app to select specific rooms to clean. Maybe this will even make him stop caring about whether you wear shoes inside the house (probably not, but it was a nice try). Promising review: "Love it love it love it!! With all four cats and one dog, it has helped a lot! The test was for my daughter, who would always have to leave early because of the animal hair, even when taking allergy medicine. Now she has no issues, and she was even surprised. It is a total game changer, not only keeping my floors so clean but also controlling the animal hair in my home. Definitely recommend!!!" —NattersPrice: $248 (originally $379.99) A portable, waterproof Bluetooth Bose speaker so your dad can bring his sweet tunes (or podcasts) anywhere he goes. It's perfect for jamming out while hiking, on beach trips, or hanging in the yard and complaining about the humidity. Plus, it has a mic, so your dad can even use it to make speakerphone calls (but double-check that he's not using it to call you before you discuss that weird wart you had removed from your foot). Promising review: 'As a seasoned collector of Bluetooth speakers, I can confidently assert that the SoundLink Flex is a remarkable device. Its audio output is exceptional for its compact size, surpassing many competitors in terms of sound quality. Based on my comprehensive evaluation, I highly recommend the SoundLink Flex 2nd generation. Bose has once again demonstrated their expertise in audio engineering. 5 out of 5 stars." —LegendPrice: $119 (available in five colors) A Bluetooth karaoke microphone, for the dad who loves to constantly serenade the household. He can just pair his phone with the mic, play his favorite tunes on the built-in speaker, and seriously up his home concert game (which previously involved him singing the wrong lyrics to "Born This Way" while washing dishes). Promising review: "This microphone is so much fun! I love to sing, even though I'm not the best singer, and I use this all of the time. My kids all looked at me weird for a while but are now used to it, lol. Hopefully, I have sparked their love for singing also. The possibilities are endless with this. I also plan to take it to our family get-togethers since my entire family loves singing. I usually Bluetooth it to my phone and play karaoke songs via YouTube, but there are many apps you can choose from for the music and lyrics. Very easy to use. Sound and volume are great for household use. We just love this." —HeiretaPrice: $19.98+ (available in three colors) A bamboo bath tray, because who needs to kick back and relax more than your pa? The expandable tray has dedicated spots for a beverage, a book or tablet, and another small item like a scrubber or reading glasses. Promising review: 'It was a gift for my husband, and he loves it. He likes to read in the tub, so now he doesn't have to hold the book.' —Anne MariePrice: $24.98 A Beautiful by Drew Barrymore one-touch electric tea kettle so your dad can always have a fresh cuppa at hand. This beauty boils seven cups of water in seven minutes, and has a 30-minute warmer mode, so the water stays hot, even if Dad is feeling totally indecisive today and can't decide between Lemon Zinger and Constant Comment. Promising review: "Very good quality water kettle that looks stunningly beautiful and functions super well. Love the digital display as it shows the water temperature. 1.7 liter capacity to serve the whole family, and comes with four preset heat options. Double-walled stainless steel with no plastic concerns. Available in different color cannot go wrong with it." —RaviReddyPrice: $39.96 (available in eight colors) And a temperature-control smart mug for the dad who takes roughly 10 hours to drink his coffee or tea every day. Eliminate his countless microwave warm-up sessions with this baby, which can keep his bev of choice hot for three hours — or all day, if he keeps it on the charging coaster (don't worry — the coaster will turn off after three hours, or if it detects that the cup is dry). Promising review: 'It's a great product! It keeps the beverage hot, the product design is great. No negative feedback. You simply plug in the base, choose your desired temperature, or take the cup (it has a lid) on the go as it has a warmer in the sealed bottom. It's perfect for any beverage that you want to keep hot." —MMPrice: $39.98 (available in three colors) A table tennis set that will allow dear daddykins to turn any table into THE GREATEST PING-PONG TABLE ON EARTH! All he needs to do is stretch out the adjustable net, clamp it to the table, and declare that the winner of today's table tennis tourney will officially be declared Coolest Family Member of All Time. Promising review: "My family and I love it; we have a lot of fun playing with it. I like that we can set it on any table, and after playing, everything is organized in one place." —SilviaPrice: $19.84 A gorgeous arched wood-finish clock for dads who are all about those minimalist aesthetics. If he opens this and thinks you got it at a fancy-schmancy design I'm certainly not gonna correct him! Promising review: "Must-buy! Cute boho accent clock. I am so impressed with this clock. The price is way too good, even if it was just a decorative item without the clock. It looks just like the pictures and is completely silent (I'm sensitive to ticking noises). The wood detail makes it look very polished. This is a perfect accent clock for an office, especially if you want a more subtle timepiece to glance at during meetings. I currently have mine in the living room, but am considering getting another one for work." —SoCalGalPrice: $9.96 An HD LCD home theater projector so your cinephile dad can finally watch his fave films the way they were ~meant~ to be seen. If your dad fusses over his Letterboxd as if it were his other child, and complains about going to the movie theater because everyone is on their phone and "doesn't respect the cinematic experience," this gift is going to be a slam dunk. Plus, it can project an image from 30–160 inches, so it works in all different kinds of spaces. Promising review: "I think this projector was a great choice, even though I was skeptical about it. It shows great and can zoom in to make the movies clearer. I purchased a Roku with it, and it's perfect for this projector. What I like is the volume is great if you don't have a sound bar yet or Bluetooth speaker. Would definitely recommend this." —CrystalPrice: $49 A pair of memory foam slippers, because he'll love that they have indoor/outdoor soles (no more slips on the way to the mailbox) and that they're machine-washable (so he can easily remove those grass stains he picked up walking out to the mailbox). Promising review: "Bought these for my husband for Father's Day. He's very picky, but he absolutely loves these slippers! They're so comfy and exactly as described!" —Tosha Price: $19.99+ (available in men's sizes 7–14 and seven colors) A weighted blanket that can help your dad sleep better than he has probably since he became a dad. With weights from 10–30 pounds available, you can pick the exact right one to help him take his naps to the absolute next level. Read more about how to choose a weight and what these blankets help with and how from Cleveland review: "I purchased the Bare Home 30-pound weighted blanket for adults, and I'm very happy with it. The 210 thread count twill cotton material feels durable and soft, and the blanket provides the perfect amount of weight for a calming and restful experience. I didn't encounter any issues with it, and it has been a great addition to my bedding. If you're looking for a high-quality weighted blanket, this one is an excellent choice." —AntonioPrice: $44.99+ (available in nine sizes/ weights and 17 colors) A Cuisinart electric wine opener, because dad's done so much for you; isn't it time to do something for him? (Like make sure he can open up to 50 bottles of wine with a single charge and zero effort.) Promising review: "Very easy to use, even on the tough corks." —GaryPrice: $27.99 A 72-ounce Ninja blender so your dad can turn a big ol' pile of veggies, fruit, yogurt, and ice into a delicious smoothie in literally seconds. He can also use it to make sauces, salsas, soups, and presumably some other foods that don't begin with the letter "S." Promising review: 'I went back and forth on if it was worth the extra money to buy the Ninja blender vs. a cheap blender. After burning out four cheap blenders, I am so glad I made the switch to the Ninja! It is fantastic. It pulverizes the frozen fruit I put in my smoothies, zero chunks!! The IQ technology is so cool, the blender knows when to pulse vs. blend for an extended period of time, and it knows when the smoothie is done and stops when it's ready. I can tell the motor is powerful. The extra blades, I'm sure, help blend everything so well. If you are on the fence about this blender, buy it, you won't regret it!' —BwestPrice: $89 A collapsible duffel bag for the dad whose love language is practicality. When folded out, the bag is spacious and has a padded carrying strap; when it's empty, it zips flat for storage. Aren't you the (totally organized, ultra-functional) apple of his eye! Promising review: 'Just what I wanted! Great overnight/weekend bag fits all my clothes, toiletries, and pillow. I loved that I was able to unpack and then refold and zip the bag for compact storage!' —BethPrice: $13.58+ (available in two colors) A bamboo Squatty Potty, because either you are from a family where it's ok to give gifts like this, or you aren't. And if you are, your dad will surely thank you for bringing this total bathroom innovation into his life (your other family members will thank you, too, if you live in a house where everyone is sharing one bathroom). Read more about constipation relief at home, including using a squatting position, at Cleveland Clinic. Promising review: 'This is a very nice version of the Squatty Potty and looks great in my bathroom. A bit more sophisticated than the plastic one. Easy to put together and my family loves it.' —TrishPrice: $39.99 A classic 4.5-quart KitchenAid stand mixer for the dad who takes his "family chef" title very, very seriously. This 10-speed, tilt-head model comes with three attachments, and can make way more than just breads and cakes — it can do everything from shred chicken to whip meringue. Promising review: 'After months of saving to have this mixer, I was finally able to purchase it. It was a dream come true! It has made my baking experiences so much fun and more enjoyable. I am literally making a trip every four days for another 5 pounds of flour and butter, from cakes to homemade bread, cookies, and cupcakes. I couldn't imagine not having one. This is truly the best kitchen appliance since sliced bread!' —CheriPrice: $329 (available in two colors) An electric towel warmer, so your dad can spoil the heck out of himself (via you and your gift). This 20-liter warmer can heat four towels (or a robe, socks, blanket, or PJs). It might sound frivolous now, but by next winter, this may have been promoted to Dad Essential. Promising review: 'I never thought this would be what I was missing to complete my life, but alas, here it is! I only wish I had purchased this earlier, it's much larger than I imagined in my head, but wow, it fits four regular bath towels and still has some space if you wanted to put your socks in there. You could even fit a large blanket if you felt so inclined. I may purchase another just for warm blankets in the living room! The sky is the limit!!!" —ValeriePrice: $89.99 (originally $166.49; available in three sizes) A Timex watch for the dad who is OVER smart watches — or maybe never liked them to begin with. This classic piece (from a company he remembers from way back when he was a kid) has everything your minimalist papa needs — a genuine leather strap and "indiglo" function to read it in the dark — and nothing that he doesn't. Ah, simplicity. Promising review: "A great watch at a great price! Some may call this design 'retro,' but to me, it is the classic Timex style that I remember from the 1960s/1970s. For less than $40, it is a dependable, good-looking, no-nonsense watch that I can wear and not worry about." —Charles"This watch is amazing! No regrets here! It does everything I wanted it to, plus it harkens back to a simpler time when things seemed full of hope and wonder. I love this watch." —BrendaPrice: $36.85 (originally $45) A five-speed percussion massage device so Dad can soothe his aching muscles. Whether he's sore from training for a half-marathon or sore from an Assassin's Creed marathon in an uncomfortable chair, this will sort him out. This massager comes with a carrying case and a massage bit case, as well as six massage head attachments — a round head, a precision head, a flat head, and a dual review: 'This massager is fantastic! I have used it on my back, shoulders, and knees. It has helped immensely. My son loves it too, on his back before and after work. I bought another one for my son-in-law as well. I highly recommend this product." —BarbaraPrice: $49.97 A Hamilton Beach two-way programmable coffee maker, for the dad who sometimes just wants one sometimes needs the whole pot. Plus, he doesn't need to buy special K-Cups to use; instead, he can use his favorite coffee in the reusable single-serving cup. Promising review: 'I absolutely love this coffee maker. It's easy to use, to clean, and I love that there are no special pods needed to make a single cup. The program brew is fantastic because it's not just for the pot, but for the single brew as well. It's definitely a great machine." —MargaretPrice: $76.15 A freestanding 14-bottle wine fridge to complete your oenophile dad's home wine setup. This compact fridge can fit easily on or under a counter, and operates totally silently, so it's not distracting. Until you can buy him a house with a wine cellar, this is a close second. Promising review: 'Shipped fast. Packaged pretty well and was easy to open. So far, it is quiet while operating. Keeps whites chilled enough for us. Also like that it can hold taller bottles. The big thing for me was accurate measurements, as this was going in a back bar and the shelf was 18 inches deep. This fits nicely. There aren't any fancy thermostats or lights in it, but that is okay for me. I just wanted something to fit my space and keep bottles cold." —JackiePrice: $134 (originally $169.99) A color-changing light saber that isn't for every dad, but if it's for your dad, WOW IS HE GONNA LOVE IT. The cosplay-quality saber can actually be used for (gentle!) light saber battles, and comes with built-in sound effects. I would highly recommend this for any Star Wars fans." —momPrice: $35.99 A portable propane tabletop griddle so that anywhere Dad goes, he can bring his love of BBQing with him. Promising review: "Make sure you season it before you use it! Works great! And easy to travel around!" —Sheena"Was given as a Father's Day gift. He loves it. It cooks great." –ReRePrice: $159.99+ (available in two sizes and two options) A Crosley record player with built-in speakers for the dad who still has his vinyl collection from the ' this stereo is also Bluetooth-enabled, for when he wants to listen to something a little more ~moderne.~ Promising reviews: "This record player is the perfect gift! I wasn't expecting much from the speakers, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sound was crisp and clear, and loud enough for the device. I was able to easily connect to all my Bluetooth speakers and connected my Alexa devices through the Alexa app. I am very happy with this." —Walmart Customer"I was finally able to dust off my old albums and 45s and listen on a record player once again! The albums sound amazing on this unit — the internal speaker is powerful. I was also able to play songs from my cell phone playlist through the Bluetooth feature. He can also remove the divider to have 9 quarts of cooking space — aka enough room to cook a 10-pound turkey. Promising review: "Love this product! It's so perfect for our family of four! Especially when making chicken wings or something of that nature, I can make enough for everyone in one batch, rather than with my old one, I had to do it in three or four batches. Plus, I love when I'm meal prepping, I can cook chicken on one side and my vegetables on the other at the same time. Saves a ton of time!" –leelee80Price: $135 (available in six colors) An electric whiskey smoker kit, because if your dad loves a glass of the amber stuff at the end of the day, this will let him have a high-end cocktail bar experience right in his living room. My husband loves it." —DawnPrice: $35.99 (originally $99.99) A digital sunrise alarm for the dad who hits snooze over and over. Instead of waking him up with jarring chimes (ugh, shut up, iPhone, who asked you?!), this clock slowly illuminates, imitating a natural sunrise. It also has a sunset feature, gently dimming over time to help him wind down (and yes, there's also a traditional sound alarm built in, in case your dad needs every tool on earth to get him out of bed). Promising review: 'I was surprised at how well it worked for me. I struggle with getting up in the morning, and the combined light and alarm wakes me up nearly every day at the right time.
