ONE Fight Night 34: George Jarvis relishes shot at Regian Eersel's Muay Thai world title

The timing could not be more perfect, George Jarvis said, as the Briton gears up for a career-defining clash against reigning two-sport champion Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 34. Advertisement The 24-year-old will challenge the Surinamese-Dutch title-holder at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium on August 2 for the Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship, and Jarvis described it as a moment that 'has been written' for years. Visualising this opportunity, he said, had never left his mind since his ONE Championship debut two years ago. 'This is something that we've been working towards for a long time.' Jarvis told the Post. 'Since the day I made my debut on ONE Championship, it's always something I knew I'd eventually achieve,' he said. 'It was only a matter of time – and obviously a matter of getting the opportunity.' Play Jarvis, who last November captured the attention of ONE's global fan base with a spectacular third-round knockout victory over Thailand's Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong at ONE Friday Fights 85 in Bangkok, said: 'As they say, everything happens for a reason – and we finally got the shot that I believe I deserve. I'm more than ready.'

ONE Championship: George Jarvis ‘here to take over' ahead of revenge bout

George Jarvis said he is 'here to take over' ahead of his second fight with Mouhcine Chafi at ONE Fight Night 30 on Saturday. Advertisement Having earned his spot on the big stage with a stunning finish of Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong last November which earned him a coveted US$100,000 contract with the organisation, Jarvis said the best is yet to come. 'Yeah, you know, what a night that was,' he told the Post. 'Mixed emotions – one thing led to another, and eventually, we walked out with the contract I wanted so badly and deserved so much. A good knockout as well.' But as Jarvis knows, making it to the top requires more than just skill in the ring. 'To get these opportunities is one thing,' he added. 'Doing it in the ring, I'd say 90 per cent of what you do in the ring gets you these opportunities, but every now and again, you need to be able to speak up and state the facts. 'I didn't say anything on the night that I didn't believe was true. Everything I said was everything I've already done. So, you need to speak up, let the people hear what you have to say, and get what you deserve.'
