UFC on ESPN 69 medical suspensions: Three fighters out indefinitely after Atlanta fights
UFC on ESPN 69 is in the books. The dust has settled, but the bumps and bruises remain.
Following Saturday's event at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, every athlete on the card was given a medical suspension by the Georgia Entertainment and Athletic Commission (GEAC). The suspensions ranged from the shortest, seven days, to potentially the longest, indefinite, which three fighters received.
Miranda Maverick, Edmen Shahbazyan, and Alonzo Menifield received an indefinite suspension as a result of their injuries. It's unclear exactly what issues the athletes are dealing with, as the GEAC does not release injury specifics due to privacy issues.
However, Maverick revealed Sunday in a post-fight statement that she tore her ACL in her co-main event loss to Rose Namajunas.
Monday, MMA Junkie acquired a full list of medical suspensions from GEAC executive director Matthew Woodruff. Fighters can return prior to the conclusion of their suspension term should they be cleared by a doctor.
