Coronation Street star shares health condition that's 'getting worse every day'

Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote, known for playing Katy Armstrong in the soap, has told her Instagram followers about a condition she has that is 'getting worse every day'. The actress has also appeared in TV shows such as Grange Hill and This Is England '86. Foote, 34, was diagnosed with vitiligo previously, reports The Sun. Vitiligo is 'a long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. It's caused by the lack of melanin, which is the pigment in skin', according to the NHS. Treatment is available but it's not always permanent for everyone who tries it and it can't always prevent the spread. Due to the condition, Foote has white spots or areas on her body, the newspaper reports. Ahead of a holiday she is going on, Foote filmed herself talking about her condition on her Instagram stories and how she is 'nervous' and thinks people might stare at her. She shared a picture of her hand on her story, writing: 'This was only a few months ago and it's spread so so much since. 'I have always looked forward to holidays, but now for the genuine first time ever I'm so nervous to go. 'Instead of getting that confidence you get from a tan, I'm scared I'm going to get people staring at me. 'Also some of the patches you can't see until the rest of you goes darker.' The actress said she hopes the NHS can start prescribing Ruxolitinib which is said to help people who have vitiligo. 'My heart goes out to anyone who has this condition. Mine was brought on in 2020. I wonder why!,' she said. Foote added: 'I just wanted to show the reality of it. Some days are so so hard and I get so angry about it. Recommended reading: 'I will always try to be brave to show others with the condition it's ok. Sometimes it gets the best of me. 'We have got this. I pray one day we get the cream passed for use in this country.' When she's on holiday, she said 'I beg to please be kind with comments' and that she understands people will 'see it a lot and it's going to be hard to deal with'.
