‘Antiques Roadshow' films episodes at Savannah museum

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A popular national TV show took over a Savannah museum this week. 'Antiques Roadshow' is currently on its 30th anniversary tour searching for America's hidden treasures and the crew made a stop at the Georgia State Railroad Museum. The Coastal Heritage Society operates the museum and said thousands of people visited the museum on Monday and Tuesday to have experts appraise their precious items. 'We're a history-based and education-based organization that's been around for 50 years and to be able to partner with such a prestigious, well-known broadcast that focuses on our material culture and history and objects of the past, it's just really something that is very close, near and dear to our organization's heart,' said Nora Fleming Lee, CEO of Coastal Heritage Society. 'We're thrilled. We're thrilled to work with them.' Georgia Public Broadcasting said three episodes were filmed in Savannah that will air on PBS in 2026. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Georgia is home of "America's Most Wanted" Season 3. Why the popular crime show came to Atlanta

A major true crime show is now calling Georgia home. "America's Most Wanted" moved out of Los Angeles last year into the Georgia Public Broadcasting headquarters in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While it does not necessarily mean they will be highlighting Georgia criminals, some re-enactments have been reportedly filmed in the metro Atlanta area. Long-time host John Walsh referenced in multiple interviews that the tax credits for filming in Georgia were a real incentive. The state offers up to 30% plus other benefits, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development. He also said the flight is a lot shorter from his home in Florida, and in an interview with Fox 5, Walsh couldn't say enough good things about the capital city. "I'm amazed," he said. "Each time I go there, Atlanta is a little safer, a little cleaner, people are back down town, and I remember the old Atlanta underground days and how it started out big and then went sideways. But, we love shooting in Atlanta. It's a great place to shoot a show." For those who haven't seen it, "America's Most Wanted" highlights open investigations on serious crimes including murder, drug trafficking, assault, etc. Fugitives are profiled for viewers to be on the look out for and a hot line is available for anyone with information to call in tips for law enforcement. The show first premiered in 1988, and has been canceled and revived multiple times and in multiple formats over the years. The current run of the show started in 2021 and is on its third season. New episodes of "America's Most Wanted" air on Fox affiliates every Monday at 9 p.m. They are then available to stream the next day on Hulu.
