Charlamagne tha God: Trump and Putin's egos ‘could be the end of civilization'
Charlamagne tha God says President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's egos could lead to the 'end of civilization as we know it.' 'I've been watching those exchanges,' the 'Breakfast Club' co-host said Tuesday of the president and Russian leader. 'I just don't like when I hear [Trump] say, 'Putin's crazy. He's lost it,'' Charlamagne, who was born Lenard McKelvey, said. 'Then the Kremlin, they throw a shot back,' the 'Get Honest or Die Lying' author continued. 'That could get stupid real fast,' the 46-year-old media personality said. In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump described Putin as having 'gone absolutely crazy,' accusing him of 'needlessly killing a lot of people' in Ukraine. Trump, who campaigned on a vow to end the war, also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he 'is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does.' The Kremlin responded on Monday to Trump's remarks, saying there is 'emotional overload' during a 'very crucial moment.' 'Those two egos could be the end of civilization as we know it,' Charlamagne said. 'Then they start talking about nuclear [weapons] and this and that. And we don't need those problems,' journalist Morgyn Wood said on the radio program. 'That's bigger than a problem,' Charlamagne said with a laugh. 'That would be the end of civilization as we know it,' he repeated. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Charlamagne tha God knocks Trump over military parade planning while ‘economy is in the toilet'
Charlamagne tha God is slamming President Trump amid conflicting reports that the White House is planning a costly military parade in D.C. even as the country's economy is 'in the toilet.' 'All these federal jobs lost, the economy is in the toilet, people's 401Ks being slashed,' the 'Breakfast Club' co-host said on Tuesday's show. 'Nothing to celebrate right now, my guy,' added the media personality, who was born Lenard McKelvey. His remarks came after Trump unveiled wide-ranging tariffs last week, fulfilling a campaign promise that has rattled markets. Multiple outlets reported Monday that the Trump administration was in the process of planning a June 14 military parade through Washington that would mark the Army's 250th anniversary. The date of the parade would coincide with Trump's 79th birthday. A senior administration official confirmed the plans to NewsNation, The Hill's sister network. The White House reportedly said Monday that no parade has been 'scheduled.' In 2018, during Trump's first term in office and inspired by a Bastille Day event he attended in France, he ordered the Pentagon to plan a large military parade. The event was canceled after defense officials quoted the price tag at $92 million. Reflecting on the $92 million estimate, Charlamagne said, 'Isn't that wasteful spending?' 'Where's DOGE at when you need them?' he said, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency. 'DOGE can't intervene in a situation like this? That seems like wasteful spending to me,' the 46-year-old 'Get Honest or Die Lying' author said. 'You need to have a nice little light party at Mar-a-Lago for family and close friends,' Charlamagne advised Trump with a laugh. 'Don't involve our military with that foolishness.'

Charlamagne Tha God says Schumer, Jeffries should get the boot
Charlamagne Tha God is calling on Democrats to turn to new leaders who 'fight back,' saying both House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) should be given the boot. 'It's not my job to say that any particular candidates need to be primaried and thrown out of office,' the media personality said during a segment on Tuesday's 'The Daily Show.' 'But Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer need to be primaried and thrown out of office,' Charlamagne, who was born Lenard McKelvey, said to applause. Charlamagne said Schumer is 'not the man with a plan to fight [President] Trump,' and compared Jeffries to a character in 'The Matrix,' telling the audience, 'I'm not too inspired by business casual Morpheus. You take the blue pill, nothing changes. You take the red pill, nothing changes — but with cherry flavor.' The 46-year-old 'Get Honest or Die Lying' author praised Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who set a new record Tuesday for the longest floor speech in Senate history. 'A Democrat actually doing something — wow,' Charlamagne exclaimed. 'He's only talking, but he's talking a lot, so I'll take it,' he said of Booker. 'What Booker did today is like the political version of phone sex: It's not as good as the real thing, but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing. And nothing is what it seems like the Democratic Party has been doing for the last three months,' he said on the Comedy Central show. Charlamagne lauded Rep. Jasmine Crockett for her approach. The Texas Democrat was recently criticized for referring to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who uses a wheelchair, as 'Governor Hot Wheels' during a speech last month. 'I'm not saying Democrats need to be offensive like Trump is, just show any kind of authenticity and fight,' Charlamagne said. 'Democrats just need to fight back,' he continued. 'Whether that looks like filibustering on the Senate floor, rallying across the country or getting in a roast battle with a wheelchair-bound senior citizen, you gotta take that fight.'

Charlamagne tha God warns Republicans: Musk is ‘coming for your red states'
Charlamagne tha God says it's not just Democrats who need to take a stand against Elon Musk, but Republicans, too, because the tech billionaire is 'coming for your red states.' 'Forget the Democrats. And let me talk to Republican politicians for a second,' the media personality said during a Thursday segment on Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show.' 'I get you want to cut government spending down to the bone, but remember, Musk isn't just coming for poor kids that you don't care about. He's coming for your red states,' the 'Get Honest or Die Lying' author, who was born Lenard McKelvey, said. 'He's coming for Medicare, Medicaid, farm subsidies. There is no community in America this won't impact,' Charlamagne tha God said. 'It's not a Black thing, a white thing, a gay thing, a straight thing,' he added. President Trump tapped Musk to head the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The Tesla CEO has since vowed to cut $2 trillion from government spending. But after Musk moved to lock federal workers out of the U.S. Agency for International Development and gained access to the Treasury Department's federal payment system, critics have questioned the legal basis for his authority. 'White conservatives, I expect more from you,' Charlamagne tha God said. 'You're just gonna roll over and let an African colonize you?' he asked of Musk, who was born in South Africa. 'Even if you don't care about we the people, don't you care about your own power? Congress is supposed to control spending, and Trump is letting Musk do it while you watch,' the 46-year-old 'Breakfast Club' co-host exclaimed. 'Don't forget, they can't vote him out of office, but they can vote you out of office,' Charlamagne tha God said in his message to Republican lawmakers. 'You think Elon cares about blowing up your political future? This man blows up his own rockets for fun,' he cracked of the SpaceX CEO. 'So Republicans, I know it's tough to stand up to Trump and Musk right now,' he said, 'but our democracy and your jobs depend on it.'
