Collin Morikawa risks Ryder Cup stand off by hiring caddie who ditched USA teammate
Collin Morikawa has made a bold move that could potentially ruffle the feathers of one of his Ryder Cup colleagues, by hiring the caddie who assisted him in clinching his first title in three years. The double major winner has ended his fruitful six-year collaboration with JJ Jakovac, marking an unexpected twist in their professional journey which began when Morikawa turned pro in 2019. As reported by Colt Knost on SiriusXM, Joe Greiner will now be Morikawa's full-time caddie. Greiner recently parted ways with Max Homa, his long-time friend and associate, before taking up the bag for Justin Thomas at the Masters and aiding him in securing the RBC Heritage, his first victory since 2022. It remains to be seen whether this development will stir up any tension between Morikawa and Thomas as they prepare to join forces for the upcoming Ryder Cup. In the meantime, Matt Minister will resume his role as Thomas's caddie after missing the Masters due to a back injury. His association with Greiner was intended to be a stopgap until Minister was fit enough to return. Morikawa is banking on Greiner's presence to reignite his winning streak, having not secured a PGA Tour title in almost two years. Despite failing to add to his trophy haul in 2024, he has managed two second-place finishes in recent times. Joe Greiner helped Justin Thomas to win the RBC Heritage earlier this month (Image: (Image: GETTY)) Morikawa's first near-miss came in the season opener, where he was outplayed by Hideki Matsuyama at The Sentry. He also narrowly missed out on victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, with Russell Henley snatching the win courtesy of a late chip-in eagle. Since the summer of 2019, Morikawa had been working closely with Jakovac, who was by his side for all six of his PGA Tour victories. Their unexpected parting has sparked speculation about what prompted the change and how Morikawa will perform with Greiner as his new caddie. Morikawa is keen to kick off their partnership on a high note by breaking his winless streak ahead of the PGA Championship. Greiner, having worked with Homa for a significant portion of his professional career, will bring a fresh perspective to Morikawa's team. The pair initially joined forces in 2013, with Greiner taking a brief hiatus to work with Kevin Chappell before reuniting with Homa in 2019.

Brandel Chamblee launches brutal attack on new target after vocal LIV Golf criticism
Brandel Chamblee, the former PGA Tour pro turned commentator, has been notably vocal over the past few years regarding his disapproval of the LIV Golf circuit. Last July, he went public to say: "LIV Golf has been detrimental to the competitiveness of (players') careers when they compete at the highest level." But this week, Chamblee's grievances found a new target: the LPGA tour and the setup at a key hole during the Chevron Championship. The seasoned analyst, who previously questioned Rory McIlroy's ability, expressed disappointment on social media about how the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas , was presented. It comes after Bryson DeChambeau fumed over the course at LIV Mexico. Read More Related Articles Donald Trump's health mystery - 'forged' medical report to weight loss warning Read More Related Articles PGA Tour star who's earned $14M makes huge announcement about wife after anguish "Hate to see a major end the way Chevron did today," Chamblee remarked on Twitter. "Why is there a grandstand so close to the back edge of a closing hole par 5 that players can hit in two? "It allows players to bounce into the grandstands but also forces everyone all week to walk in the same area, no doubt chewing up the spot where players have to chip from." His comments came after a near-miss incident involving Ariya Jutanugarn, who narrowly avoided hitting a spectator, and then lost the championship in a playoff round. Chamblee elucidated his criticism, noting; "Ariya Jutanugarn's ball should have been off the back of the green some ten yards, leaving a basic chip, but instead was in a horrid lie from which she whiffed her chip and then lost in a playoff." Mao Saigo poses with the trophy after winning the Chevron Championship (Image: Getty Images) Mao Saigo ultimately clinched the victory, outplaying four competitors in the tense playoff, marking her inaugural win on the tour as 2024's LPGA Rookie of the Year seeks to make her presence known. Saigo claimed victory after a birdie on the first playoff hole. She excitedly shared, "I did my best to calm down and I shot and it went in." Jutanugarn was poised for triumph throughout the final round but stumbled with a bogey on the 18th hole. Reflecting on the game, she remarked, "The front nine was very solid especially with the eagle, but back nine just couple mistakes on par 5 that I made; two bogeys." He hasn't shied away from critiquing those golfers who've recently defected to the breakaway LIV Golf series. "With the exception of DeChambeau, not one LIV player managed a top-five in a major in 2024," Chamblee aired his views on X last summer. Expanding on Bryson's season, he added, "Bryson is without a doubt one of the most compelling figures in the game, and his newfound engagement with the fans was a highlight of the major season, but on the whole LIV players were a huge disappointment in the 2024 majors."

Cam Smith reveals one part of Bryson DeChambeau's game he 'wishes' he had
Ripper GC captain and LIV Golf star seems to envy one particular skill of his competitor Bryson DeChambeau. Last weekend saw Smith and DeChambeau vying for the top spot at the LIV Mexico City event, with DeChambeau entering the final round on Sunday with a slight edge. However, both golfers were overtaken by the league's hottest player, as Joaquin Niemann clinched his third season victory. Although he didn't win in Mexico City, Smith had reasons to be upbeat, delivering his strongest performance of the year and tying for fifth place. Renowned for his exceptional short game on both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, the 31-year-old former Open champion openly admires DeChambeau's prowess off the tee, which has become a hallmark of his play. "At times, I wish I could drive the ball like him. I often wonder about how much better of a golfer I would be if I could drive the ball like him." On the flip side, DeChambeau had high praise for Smith's putting prowess. "Yeah, it's scary when he gets on the greens," the two-time U.S. Open champion commented about the Australian after playing alongside him over the weekend. Bryson DeChambeau had another tough Sunday in Mexico (Image: Getty Images) "Whenever he gets on the greens, I'm like, well, that's a one-putt. You just mark him down for a one-putt. It's pretty awesome to watch him putt. "I'm sure there are times where he's like, holy crap, I wish I could hit the ball that far, too. He hits it plenty far enough, and his iron play and wedge play is great right now." Neither Smith nor DeChambeau could carry their stellar form from the first two rounds into the final 18 holes on Sunday, allowing Niemann to seize the opportunity and extend his 2025 dominance. Sitting atop the LIV standings after six events, the Chilean also secured a spot in the U.S. Open through the league's new qualification process established by the USGA. The pair will be back in action this Friday, with LIV hosting their inaugural event in South Korea.

Donald Trump refuses to stand near Eagles owner for ludicrous reason at White House
Donald Trump had a ludicrous reason for not wanting to stand next to Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie at the White House. The Eagles were in Washington D.C. to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs , with star running back Saquon Barkley spending time with the president before the team's formal visit. Star quarterback Jalen Hurts and a number of other stars were not present, however, citing "scheduling conflicts. " As Trump made his way to the podium in front of the Eagles players, he noticed how large some of the football players are. Standing on a raised platform, the 78-year-old told the crowd what he thought of the size of the Eagles stars who were situated behind him. This guy - you know, when we walked up I said, 'You know, you just stay here a little bit, I'll walk up in front of you because I didn't want to get anywhere near the size of you,' and the greatness as a player too." This is not the first time Trump has made himself look taller as he stood among athletes. When Ohio State visited the White House after the Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship, Trump again stood on a raised platform while the players were behind him . "Do you notice the way they're sitting in, like, a little trench?" he said at the time to reporters and the players behind him. "I didn't want them at the same level. Actually, it was really — but I feel very good about that, [ Vice President J.D. Vance ], right? Let's keep them down a little bit." "Complementing Saquon's historic season was an incredible year from star quarterback Jalen Hurts, and he really - he had a great season and a great game (in the Super Bowl)," the president said. "He finished with 32 touchdowns in the year, turning in one stellar performance after another. A terrific guy, and a terrific player." Along with Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Nolan Smith Jr, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Darius Slay, CJ Gardner Johnson, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Isaiah Rodgers, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Sweat, Tyler Steen and Quinyon Mitchell were not present . When images of him spending time with Trump hit social media, many fans were shocked to see the Eagles star spending time with the 78-year-old, with some denouncing his actions. In response, Barkley hit back on X : "lol some people are really upset cause I played golf and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day."

Bryson DeChambeau woes continue with LIV Golf after suffering Masters deja vu
Bryson DeChambeau had another challenging Sunday at LIV Golf Mexico City, just two weeks after his disappointment at the Masters. DeChambeau was in a prime position to win his first LIV title in nearly two years, but Joaquin Niemann chased him down in Mexico City, securing his spot at the U.S. Open in June. This will be a hard pill to swallow for DeChambeau, who is still dealing with the fallout from his loss to Rory McIlroy at Augusta 14 days ago. At Augusta National, DeChambeau had a golden opportunity to win his first green jacket , leading the leaderboard with 16 holes remaining. Read More Related Articles McIlroy to skip tournament for 'reset' after failed Lowry title defense Read More Related Articles Justin Thomas reaction to Schauffele and Scheffler rejection speaks volumes However, a series of mistakes, particularly in his approach play, allowed McIlroy to regain control and eventually beat his Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose in a playoff to complete the career Grand Slam. For DeChambeau, it was a similar story at Club de Golf Chapultepec. Despite being close to his best golf, the U.S. Open champion was the one to beat during the first 36 holes, leading after both the first and second rounds with two strong performances. However, he failed to capitalize on this position, posting a level-par 71, which left him three shots behind Niemann at the end of the game. Earlier in the week, Crushers star spoke about his game's improvement, particularly his iron play, after facing some difficulties at Augusta. However, it was his performance off the tee at Chapultepec that truly stood out. Bryson DeChambeau had another tough Sunday (Image: Getty Images) The high altitude allowed for longer drives, a bonus for the two-time major winner known for his powerful tee shots. Despite appearing comfortable on the Mexican course, DeChambeau described Chapultepec as "diabolical". "The golf course is gettable, but it's diabolical, as well," he commented after his first round last Friday. "There were a lot of moments where I felt like I was going to get it to nine, ten-under, and there were moments where I'm like, man, 'I could be three-under or two-under easily if I don't get my act in shape. "It's a teeter-totter golf course. You can hit a drive down by the green, but it depends on the lie, depends on the flag, depends on if you can make some six, seven-footers out here." "And you barely get in the rough and you can have a super thick lie and it comes out dead and you have no control of the ball, and there are areas where in the rough it's super firm and dry and fast and you can get fliers out of there... On the greens, if you're above the hole on certain pin locations, considering where they placed them this week, it's nearly impossible. "So really, placing yourself in good positions and giving yourself a chance to make birdie every single hole is key, but it's diabolical because of that dry factor and then wet factor that we have out here."
