Snoop Dogg Announces Gospel Album ‘Altar Call' & Its Release Date
Snoop Dogg is heading back to his church roots for his next album, Altar Call, which will be arriving on April 27. The project will serve as a tribute to Snoop's late mother. 'April 27, I'm dropping a gospel album on Death Row Records. It's called Altar Call,' he said in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday (April 15). 'You heard it first. A gospel album, April 27. God is good. Won't he do it?' Snoop's late mother is featured on the project's cover art. Beverly Tate passed away in 2021. 'U taught me how to read and write how to struggle and fight and all the facts of life,' Snoop said at the time of her death. 'Now you finally got ya wings, mama.' Snoop Dogg recently sat down with Okayplayer to detail his mother's impact on him and how her spirit is channeled through Altar Call. 'The spirit of my mother will forever live within me. This album is a reflection of what she has taught me — to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world. Just another chapter out of the Bible of Love.' Snoop's first gospel album arrived in 2018, with Bible of Love featuring assists from Faith Evans, Charlie Wilson and more. The West Coast legend closed out 2024 alongside his longtime partner Dr. Dre with their Missionary album in December. The LP debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200. Snoop Dogg Says He Only Collaborates With Brands That Help His Community: ‘You Can Pay Me, But That Ain't All We Doing
Snoop Dogg says he only works with brands and companies that support his community. In an interview with Time published on Wednesday as part of the magazine's 100 most influential people of 2025, Snoop was asked about how he successfully dabbles in multiple brands. He said he approaches each of his collaborations with a philanthropic mindset. 'We gonna make sure you take care of this community initiative that I have. And it could be silent or it can be loud, but that's a part of the deal as well.' The DoggFather was asked whether he worries about oversaturating his brand with too many things. 'The way you framing it, with all due respect, is like I'll do anything,' he cotninued. 'I want you to frame it like I'll do anything if I own the brand. That's a big difference. So me marketing and branding for a company — if I don't own it, I ain't f—ing with it.' Most recently, Snoop took a break from his business collaborations to step back into the studio with country singer ERNEST. The pair released their new song 'Gettin Gone' on April 9. The track marks the first release from an upcoming project on Ernest's DeVille Records, which he launched in partnership with Big Loud Records. 'Gettin' Gone' was written by Ernest, Snoop Dogg, Ben Hayslip, Rhett Akins and Mark Holman, with production by Jacob Durrett. Snoop also recently announced his new gospel album Altar Call, which is set for release on April 27.
