Second Shot at Love – K-drama Episode 7 Recap & Review
Episode 7 Episode 7 of Second Shot at Love begins with Gwang-ok's friend calling to apologise. She accidentally went to the wedding, thinking Geum-ju was the bride, and found out about Ju-yeop's shotgun wedding. She, of course, told Gwang-ok which led to her drinking. The whole family is upset while Geum-ju is awkward. Gwang-ok apologises for her nagging and Jeong-su blames himself. After comforting them, Geum-ju runs to Ui-joon and cries. She never told anyone as she didn't want pity. But she is glad that Ui-joon knows. Meanwhile, Seon-hwa tries to set up Seon-wook with a woman. She is excited on learning he has a crush and even overhears him trying to patch up with Hyeon-ju. However, Seon-hwa misunderstands and thinks he wants Hyeon-ju on the taekwondo team. As for the stranger mystery, the cops reveal that the truck was stolen. CCTVs also show a man breaking into Ui-joon's house and he is sure it is his father. Things seem to be looking up as Geum-ju's company wants her back. Gwang-ok now trusts her and constantly tears up when reminded of her distrust. Seon-wook notices Ui-joon sulking over Geum-ju's departure and they spar together. They bond over how complicated life is. Elsewhere, the ladies gossip how Ui-joon likes Geum-ju but is way beyond her league. Unable to take it, Gwang-ok finally tells them about Ju-yeop. Geum-ju pops up and Gwang-ok is apologetic. But Geum-ju is relieved that she doesn't need to lie anymore. As expected, the news spreads like wildfire and everyone is upset. Seon-wook feels bad for nagging Geum-ju and even goes to a fortune teller for a good luck talisman. Geum-ju is packing up when her family returns the money she used to send them. She is touched as they promise to support her. Even the boys show up and they all hold a farewell party for Geum-ju. There is more good news as a realtor finds a new tenant for Geum-ju's apartment. To celebrate, Gwang-ok permits one drink but Geum-ju refuses. Everyone is proud of her. Suddenly, there is a commotion. The villagers arrive with pitchforks, ready to beat up Ju-yeop. As the Hans try to stop them, Geum-ju is amused. She realises that she has people by her side and she need not endure alone. A flashback shows that the new tenant is Ui-joon. Alone, she tells him not to sign the lease. She finally confesses that she did like him. It is why she was embarrassed by his pity. She jokingly tells him to stop going out of his way for her. She returns to work and Chief Kim is surprisingly apologetic. He looks out for her and hypes her up. When the team pitches a welcome dinner, he scolds them for being inconsiderate about her recovery. As a compromise, those who drink will head out. It is everyone except Geum-ju. As she is left alone, Kim smirks. A friendly co-worker warns her that Kim holds grudges. Ui-joon itches to check up on her but stops himself. Nurse Baek encourages him to follow his happiness. However, he cannot forget his father's threat. A flashback shows Mr. Seo causing a scene at Ui-joon's hospital. While trying to stop him, a nurse falls and hits her head. Back in the village, Jeong-su runs into Seon-hwa. He talks about what a good friend Seon-wook is to Geum-ju. She thinks her brother likes Geum-ju. At the same time, Hyeon-ju tells Seon-wook they cannot be more than mutual acquaintances. He tells her how he didn't believe in love because of his family. But he changed his mind after he fell for her. He plays with her kids and she sees him in a new light. Ui-joon goes home and finds that his love note for Geum-ju is crumpled. A flashback shows his father seeing the love note and threatening to hurt Geum-ju unless Ui-joon gives him money. At present, Ui-joon realises she is in danger. Geum-ju is headed home when the truck driver shows up and hits her car. However, Ui-joon arrives in time and takes him down. At the police station, they see that the driver is a former patient. He is a violent alcoholic who refused treatment. His family left him and he blames Ui-joon. Once that is resolved, Ui-joon finds Geum-ju missing. He panics before he finds her heading towards the police station for him. He frets over her and she tells him to stop. She keeps mistaking his pity for feelings. He finally confesses that he loves her and they kiss. In the Second Shot at Love Episode 7 epilogue, Geum-ju asks the fortune teller about Ui-joon. The fortune teller comments that they kissed 10 years ago and Geum-ju thinks she is a quack. The Episode Review Second Shot at Love Episode 7 is quite wholesome as Geum-ju realises that she need not endure her sufferings alone. All the characters who have been nagging her redeem themselves by coming to her aid once they learn the truth about her ex. Geum-ju grows as well, seeing the support for what it is instead of pity. And there is finally some progress in the romance department with Geum-ju and Ui-joon dating while Hyeon-ju starts considering Seon-wook's feelings. With the Hans' alcoholism being demoted in terms of conflict, the show sets up multiple mini-conflicts to fill the second half of the show. We are pretty sure that there may be a relapse plot twist before the finale but till then, Chief Kim and Ui-joon's father are bound to keep things interesting. Second Shot at Love – K-drama Episode 6 Recap & Review
Episode 6 Episode 6 of Second Shot at Love begins with a flashback of Ui-joon kissing Geum-ju. After she claims she doesn't like him, he ghosts her and books a flight. She shows up at the airport and calls him out for leaving without any explanation. He states that he doesn't need to explain himself. At present, he reveals how he heard she pities him and so he left. They apologise for hurting each other and he clarifies that he is over her. A second flashback shows Geum-ju texting Ui-joon that she had blacked out. He just smiles and decides to woo her harder. However, a capped stranger shows up, claiming to be his father. He hits Ui-joon and demands that he pay off his debt. He also threatens to hurt Geum-ju and it is why Ui-joon leaves. When she shows up at the airport, she sees that he is wounded. To stop her from prying, he claims she has crossed a line. At present, Geum-ju dreams of getting drunk and confessing to Ui-joon that she likes him. She keeps blushing and having hallucinations of Ui-joon liking her. Jeong-su gets the chills while Hyeon-ju has weird cravings and chalks off her kiss with Seon-wook as a craving. These are all withdrawal symptoms. There is a wedding in town, and as usual, the village ladies use it to put down Geum-ju. Gwang-ok does her best to defend Geum-ju but is frustrated on learning of the altercation with Chief Kim. Turns out, he is in the hospital, claiming he is hurt. He tries to sue Geum-ju but she one-ups him. Ui-joon's car has the dashcam footage of Chief Kim harassing her and Geum-ju pushing him off as self-defence. From the footage, she also realises that Ui-joon was waiting for her for 2 hours. Next, Hyeon-ju tries to play off the kiss but an excited Seon-wook confesses. He understands her position and promises to wait till she is ready. Suddenly, Gwang-ok leaves for a staycation in Seoul. The Hans sulk as they cannot survive without her. However, Ui-joon reveals that he is the one who suggested the vacation. He tells Geum-ju that Gwang-ok needs to take care of herself too. She acts brave but she is suffering as well. Geum-ju feels guilty and sends Gwang-ok some money. Gwang-ok is touched and shares it with her city friends who hype up Geum-ju. We also see Nurse Baek being her usual protective self and berating Geum-ju for constantly going after Ui-joon. From the second nurse, Yeong-rong, Geum-ju learns that Nurse Baek took Ui-joon under her wing at the hospital and is like a mother to him. The next day, Ui-joon and Geum-ju overhear two villagers gossiping about the upcoming wedding. The mother of the bride isn't inviting Gwang-ok as Geum-ju may tag along. They call her bad luck and Ui-joon stands up for her. Hyeon-ju is thinking of Seon-wook's words when she runs into Seon-hwa and her mother-in-law. Mother-in-law bullies Seon-hwa and also puts down Seon-wook. Having practically raised her brother, Seon-hwa is offended and vows to find him a young, employed girl to marry. This bothers Hyeon-ju as she is neither. She ghosts Seon-wook and drops out of his taekwondo class. Back to our lead couple, they head out to look at the mobile van clinic when a truck swerves in their way. Ui-joon barely veers the car in time but hurts his shoulder. Worried, Geum-ju tends to it. They realise that they are too close and get flustered. As she leaves, Geum-ju's heart keeps racing and she wonders if it is a withdrawal symptom. That night, Ui-joon is restless as he imagines his father driving the truck. On top of that, the cops are having a hard time tracing it. To distract herself, Geum-ju works on his car. She finds the parking ticket from Ju-yeop's wedding day and calls the venue out of curiosity. She is surprised to learn that Ui-joon blocked the newlyweds' car and got them late for their honeymoon. She is sad that she didn't realise how he had been taking care of her. On her way home, she is tempted by a street bar and pours herself a drink. However, she sees the texts from Gwang-ok stating that Geum-ju can rely on her instead of alcohol. Touched, Geum-ju stops herself and buys some gifts. But when she gets home, she sees a drunk Gwang-ok pass out. In the Second Shot at Love Episode 6's epilogue, Nurse Baek checks on Ui-joon. She spots his pills and is sad that he has resumed taking them. He confesses that he is worried for Geum-ju as he likes her. The Episode Review Second Shot at Love Episode 6 is quite refreshing in terms of conflict resolution and creating meaningful moments for the secondary characters. Ui-joon finally confesses to Geum-ju but he leaves out the bit that he still likes her. Seon-wook confesses to Hyeon-ju as well but she is unknowingly stopped by his sister. The creepy stranger and the white truck of doom make an appearance as well and while it is cliched, it definitely amps up the stakes. But it is Gwang-ok's mini-subplot that steals the spotlight. The show is pretty clever with the show-don't-tell-trope as it has the villagers constantly nagging Geum-ju and looking down on her in front of Gwang-ok. It is a stark contrast from Gwang-ok's city friends. For once, she is able to show off her daughter's positive aspects without being reminded of her alcoholism. We bet Gwang-ok or someone saw Geum-ju at the street bar and presumed that she had relapsed. It is possibly what pushes Gwang-ok to alcohol.
