She said this year's event, called 'Jasmine Blossom,' focuses on these traditional uses, helping young attendees learn more about their culture. Workshops and Activities The event featured a series of workshops, including making aromatic materials, crafting jasmine garlands, and an exhibition introducing the cultural and historical importance of jasmine. Ghabesh confirmed that "Bisharat Al-Qayz" which began in 2008, continues to be well received by participants and reflects the enduring value of cultural traditions.

Sharjah Institute for Heritage brings Emirati crafts to life
Celebrating cultural identity through traditional crafts Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Aisha Ghabesh stated that the institute's pavilion features hands-on stations that showcase a range of traditional crafts which form an essential part of the UAE's cultural fabric. Live demonstrations are being conducted by skilled artisans in the making of perfumes and incense, including classic dokhoon and makhmmariyah, as well as the art of talli, known for embellishing traditional garments with silk, gold, and silver threads. The pavilion also includes exhibits of maritime crafts such as the creation of lyakh and gargour, once vital to the fishing trade, along with crafts derived from palm-based materials. Connecting heritage with the public and investors Ghabesh also pointed out that the pavilion presents a collection of publications by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, which document Emirati crafts and highlight their historical and social value. Through this initiative, the institute aims to promote meaningful interaction between artisans and visitors, while encouraging investors and cultural enthusiasts to explore the economic and creative potential of heritage-based industries. She invited all forum visitors to stop by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage's pavilion during the remaining days of the event to immerse themselves in the richness of Emirati craftsmanship and experience a vibrant cultural journey that reflects the authenticity and artistic legacy of the community.

SIH launches 'Intergenerational Gathering' Initiative
The initiative aligns with the UAE's celebrations of the 'Year of Community' and targets senior citizens through interactive, heritage-based programmes that aim to strengthen bonds between generations. The initiative is organised in collaboration with Al Asala Club and the Senior Citizens Services Centre. Empowering Seniors through Cultural Exchange Speaking to 'Sharjah 24,' Ghabesh emphasised that the initiative seeks to promote community inclusion for senior citizens while highlighting their vital role in passing on cultural and traditional knowledge to younger generations. Supported by the Ministry of Community Empowerment, the programmes aim to create a meaningful exchange rooted in shared heritage. Focus on Marine Heritage The first day of the initiative focused on marine environments, featuring workshops and educational discussions about the components of traditional maritime life and its historical importance for coastal communities. Live demonstrations of maritime arts and related traditional crafts were also showcased, offering participants an immersive cultural experience. Women's Dialogue and Artistic Exchange On the second day, the initiative continues with dialogue sessions specifically for female members of Al Asala Club. These sessions feature a variety of artistic and educational activities that encourage cultural interaction across generations and reinforce heritage as a bridge connecting the past with the present. Fostering Social Cohesion through Heritage Concluding her statement, Ghabesh stated that 'Intergenerational Gathering' reflects the vision of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage to build a cohesive society by embedding traditional values and fostering social integration across all community segments.
