'His Pakistani Bhabhi Too...': Bhopal Woman Says Husband, In-Laws Pressuring Her To Convert

Last Updated: Niharika, harassed by her husband Ghanim Ali and his family, approached Bhopal police again, alleging pressure to change faith, facing physical abuse and threats A love story that began with promise has taken a troubling turn, forcing a woman to approach a police station in Bhopal for the second time. Initially married to Ganim Ali, everything seemed well, but over time, her husband and in-laws began pressuring her to change her faith, with support from her Pakistani sister-in-law. Niharika first filed a complaint on May 31, 2024, against her husband and his family but retracted it the following day after they promised reconciliation—an agreement that remains unfulfilled. Frustrated and facing continued harassment, Niharika has now approached the police again, detailing the abuse she has suffered. In her renewed complaint, Niharika accused her husband, Ghanim Ali, his father Ghazanfar Ali, mother-in-law Saleka Ali, sister Uzma Ali, elder brother Ghazi Ali, and sister-in-law Sana Habib of pressuring her to change her faith. She claims she faced physical abuse for refusing and alleged that the issue of conversion was first raised by Sana Habib, who she suspects is linked to a religious conversion organisation. Niharika believes that questioning Sana could uncover the full extent of the conspiracy, noting that Sana is attempting to flee the country. Niharika also revealed that her in-laws threatened her family with physical harm if she pursued legal action, which led her to move to Delhi to stay with her younger sister. Despite the threats, she chose to file a complaint due to the ongoing harassment. Niharika has demanded the immediate seizure and investigation of the accused's mobile phones and called for strict legal action against them. First Published: April 25, 2025, 17:08 IST
