Deadmau5 apologises for their drunken set on stage at Coachella
Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, was supposed to perform a lengthy DJ set alongside electronic music artist Zhu at Coachella in California this month Deadmau5 has apologised to his fans for his drunken behaviour during his set at Coachella. When the dance music star became noticeably erratic on stage and appeared to slur his speech, his set with electronic music artist Zhu was cut short. Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, had to be escorted off-stage after falling over behind his sound system. The Canadian DJ, 44, has now addressed his drunken behaviour on Instagram. He initially posted a picture of a bottle of water and admitted he didn't "remember a thing" from his performance. In the comments, the artist added: "Probably my last Coachella show." The following day, the music producer posted a snap of his cat and joked that even his pet was "disappointed" in him due to his on-stage conduct. Captioning the post, Deadmau5 wrote: "Sorry about last night. Lol. TO BE FAIR, I felt the first 3/4 was great." The Ghosts 'n' Stuff hitmaker, from Niagara Falls, Ontario, added: "Huge shout out to @zhu for introducing me to whisky and carrying my dumb a*s till the bitter end. lemme quit smoking, do some f**ken personal resetting here at home, find my spirit animal, work on some new music, and come back better (sic)." Deadmau5 has had a successful career since bursting onto the dance music scene in 1998. He has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including three in 2012 such as Best Dance/Electronic Album for 4x4=12. He's won three International Dance Music Awards though, including Best Artist in 2010. But the Coachella episode mars his record, with his behaviour noted across social media on Saturday. One person wrote: "So rude for being that drunk." Another posted: "He's made a mistake there." Coachella, which has been held annually over two weekends in April or May since 1993, is a favourite with Hollywood stars. Justin Bieber was pictured there this year but fans quickly shared their concern online about the Baby hitmaker's behaviour. Bieber, 31, was seen slumped over long before the end of the trendy bash, and he looked disoriented while sitting down in a grey hoodie. The smoking musician, sporting khaki pants in the video, looked like he was ready to go home as he was recorded at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. One user said he looked "broken" - while others questioned why someone wasn't with him in the VIP section. Another commented saying smoking Justin "looks like those men on the street in Seattle" while others registered their concern for the Grammy-winning artist. Late in the concerning clip, Bieber was topless and dancing on his own as revellers looked on stunned.
