Primetime 585 Shining Star: Gianna Bianchi
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – It is time for our Primetime 585 Shining Star Spotlight where we introduce you to some student athletes who are brightening up our community. Today we are highlighting Gianna Bianchi! Gianna is a valedictorian and varsity cheer captain from Hilton High School. She's been cheerleading since she was seven years old and has been on the varsity squad since grade 10. She made first team all-county in her junior and senior year and received the Nancy Saxton Leadership Award for Class A this year. Primetime 585 Spotlight Team: Hilton cheerleading
HILTON, N.Y. (WROC) — The Hilton cheerleading team has been racking up awards all season long. Now, they're the Primetime 585 Spotlight Team of the Week. Hilton has been dominant all year. They won their division at the Mercy tournament. They also have won their division and been named the grand champions at tournaments in Attica, Eastridge, and Gates-Chili. 'I know my team is going to do amazing. We are the dream team,' said Hilton senior cheerleader Taylor Kowalski. 'We've done so, so good this season. It's just so exciting to get out on the floor and put it out there knowing we're going to do so good.' On Wednesday night, they won the Division One title at the Monroe County Championships against some of the most talented teams in Section V, despite facing adversity. 'We go into everything with intention, as polished as we can be. [Our team] is getting over the flu right now. We had one hour of practice this week,' said head coach Shelly Caamano. 'We came out here and had all of our fingers and toes crossed but their bodies and their minds, they just know what to do.' Lillyann Dalle and Gianna Bianchi were named First Team All-County while Irelyn Dooley and Mia Hicks took Second Team honors. 'We are screaming for each other in each and every section,' said senior Gianna Bianchi. 'Even at practice, we keep the same energy, the same motivation because we know that just because we're at the top right now doesn't mean we're going to stay there. We're always working hard at practice to make sure we're better than the time before. Hilton has a team full of athletes and is looking to win their third straight sectional title.
